At 4:55a this morning, Wed 5/25/05, my 1987 silver 4Runner was taken from my driveway in Antelope CA (Sacramento area). I heard it start and was fast enough to see it leave! It was pretty much stock, not at all in the class of your 4x4 rigs, but it was loved!

Not much I can do but report it and ask people to watch for it. At least this makes me feel like I am doing something... grrrr.

It was a 2-door, SR5, 22RE, Silver (badly faded) with black top. Plate: 2FUR704 VIN# JT4RN62S7H0177425. Stock SR5 Alloy wheels. Still has original paint and 87 decals except the hood which is repainted and clean. A dent in rear drivers side below tail light and one in the center of the roof where kayak rack folded into it. The rack bars were not on it, but the Yakima ledges are bolted into the top between the rear seat windows and the slanted side window in the fiberglass top.

Since it wasn't dressed up for off-roading, and it was taken at 5am (sort rules out joy-riders), I am guessing it is gone for parts. But I can hope.

Thanks for any help!

I'll keep my eye out for it... a lot of stolen cars get dumped out in my area out on Latrobe road (Sloughhouse area)

Good luck...

I'll keep my eyes open. Your truck does sound familiar. I'm sure I've seen it before it was stolen. Can I ask what part of Antelope you're in? Feel free to pm me if you don't want it on the board.

It's been a month and no sign of the 4Runner. I have had to move on - to a Jeep Cherokee (alas, say it isn't so!). If I hear anything about recovery of the 4Runner, I will pass it on. We may not have found it, but it is good to know there are others watching for it. A sincere thanks to all the Pirate4x4 crew for their support.

For the record, I received a call from the Sacramento County Sheriff. They recovered the 4Runner in Elk Grove (south Sacramento County). It was being driven by an individual that claimed to own it and had a fake registration. I've took settlement from the insurance company long ago, and have a Jeep Cherokee that I really like, so I guess the old 4Runner went to salvage/auction somewhere! :-(
