Ok I already mounted the front spring hanger as far forward as I can on the front of the bumper for the SR. The issue I have is that the stock cj7 springs that I am using are longer. The way the spring is set-up now the front end will be moved 2.5" back. (somthing I dont want).
So what should I do? Should I just redrill the spring pack to match what I had before the soa?
I am at a loss here, I slipped up and didnt take in account that the cj7 springs wouldnt line up the same.
I can re-drill the spring, that isnt a issue. I have plenty of cobalt drills at the shop. But will it perform the same? I would assume it would have the same amount of droop correct?
Help!!

Now are you sure that you want a S/R? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
i wouldn't redrill the springs, and even if you do decide too, good luck.
yeah i am pretty sure I want the SR. But I wont get into that. If anyone has any real help, that would be nice.
Thanks

Why not just redrill the center pin hole in the spring perch? Its been done before. Toyota guys do it all the time. I don't know if it will get ya 2.5" though.
Kevo
Can you turn the spring around and get the distance back? If I remember right those springs you are using don't have the locating pin centered between the spring eyes. I'm probably wrong, but it's worth a look.

CJ7 springs have a centered center pin. Wagoneer front springs have a 2" offset center pin. I would redrill the spring perch hole and then redrill the main leaf some. You could get 2.5" out of that. 3/4" on the perch and 1 3/4" on the main leaf.
I just went ahead and moved the front bumper and outriggers forward 4 " I mounted 5x4 angle on the sides and to the winch plate and bumper a few years ago, I just got some longer angle and it spaced it oout further.
Looks great and you cant really tell unless you look under it and see the end of the frame horns under the winch plate. I mounted the angle with 4 grade 8 5/8's 16 bolts and 4 grade 8 through the plate and into the original frame ends. Its tied in extremely well.
I gained wheelbase also and I was able to keep the steering box in the original position.
Looks like I have a 92" wheelbase now from moving the front and the rear out. Gonna be cool, or at least better than what I had!
And yes I am keeping the RS setup!!! :):)
Got some new MTRs for it also, early B-day present.......Yeah!!! Thats the ticket!!!!
So Have a  or two with me!
