Can anyone tell me what 4 speed trans were available in the 73-74 one ton dodge trucks that would have had a PTO take-off on it?? It looks very much like a current 435 but I'm not sure if that tranny was used then. It is dated 74 but no other #s that would ID the trans.

Dodge offered the NP-435 and NP-445D. The difference between the two is the 445D has dual pto capability, lower (numerically) gearing and is fully synchonized in all gears. The NP-435 was not fully synchonized, can only run one PTO and is higher(numerically geared). If I were to guess I would say its an NP435, the were used more in the bigger trucks mainly because the higher(numerically) gearing was better for extra weight.

The transmission will be able to run two pto's, that is one on the passenger side and one on the drivers side. If you pull the inspection window on the driver side and there is an idler gear with teeth-NP445 only.

It only has the place for one pto unit. I found a web site that gave me some ratios to check. I think I have a 435 with the 6.69-1 1st gear.
