: Top Truck and Abba
Curtis 02-27-2002, 09:53 PM Hey guys. Abba's been spending some time away from the site for lent (really I'm not kidding). So, he wanted me to remind and thanks everyone for voting for him on the Top Truck Challenge. Tell your firends, family and enemies too ;)
Also, what happened to Shadowman's Scout? We thought he was going to get in TTC?
In the meantime, I've been busting my ass getting my 60 installed. Hopefully, midweek next week it'll be installed with pics :D :D :D
Hayraker 02-27-2002, 10:07 PM get it
Scout Dude 02-27-2002, 10:16 PM Okay stupid question...What does PBB have to do with Lent? There's no meat here...
Back to tech related stuff (Sorta):
What is taking you so long on your 60? Your staying full width right? Should be just about a bolt in deal.
Me on the other hand, I picked up my hysteer arms so I can test fit them when I finally get my 60 back this weekend. This stuff takes so much damn time...
Hayraker 02-27-2002, 10:36 PM You are supposed to give up something important to you during lent, according to some denominations.
I have a friend who gave up watching wrestling last year.
Curtis 02-27-2002, 11:59 PM What Hayraker said about lent ;)
My 60 is just giving me fits. It was a dually so I need to change it over. Ever try to find Chevy 60 hubs for less than $300 a piece? It's a royal pain in the ass. Got some ideas though to make Ford hubs and rotors work since I can get the Ford shit for about $20 (yes twenty) a side. We'll see. Tomorrow is the big day to find out if the cheaper solution works.
Shadow man 02-28-2002, 12:39 AM I dont know either:mad: I have a fresh blown 468, or a 511 ready to replace the old 427. And Moser should have front 35 spline alloy axles ready by the TTC. I sent in pics. I guess the editors figuired that two SCOUTS was the equal of 73 other rigs:D If A Scout gets in, I still say it will win the TTC:) I'm voting Scouts.;)
muskyman 02-28-2002, 07:01 AM the problem with the TTC is they play favorites, they cheat, the rules have eroaded to allow them to pick who they want to win.
such as the towing test...come on how often do you tow a dump truck up a hill.
they should have a 25' boat on a trailer make you tow it threw a course and back it down a ramp under control ...make it real, lets see some buggy sprung psuedo willies do that.
they should also keep the rules the same from start to finnish
a few years ago a bunch of midewest guys took the time to go all the way out only to be screwed around with and taken advantage of with bull shit rules.
the hole thing turns into a big taste test unless the rules are real and fair accross the board.
scouts did awsome in the first couple because they are a great combination of real truck and play toy...thats what they used to sayTTC was all about
Curtis 02-28-2002, 08:58 AM Yeah it really sucks the way the editors go through and pick the rigs. Alot of those things this year are piles of shit, and what is up with the pics of the ones on trailers?? Yeah, like they are going to win anything.
jdjanda 02-28-2002, 10:01 AM How is Abba coming with the coil setup, or is he waiting until after TTC? Last time I talked to him he was gung ho on the coils.
Joe
Brandonw 02-28-2002, 10:13 AM Wasnt there some coverage of TTC on tv a few years ago:question: I remeber seeing a bad a$$ Scout and a bunch of other trucks goin thru obstacle courses and mud pits. Think it was ESPN, any idea if theyre gona do it again:question:
Hayraker 02-28-2002, 11:22 AM Curtis, there is a man named Roger Frederick who will swap your old dually hubs for new singles for $165
I deleted his email address but it is posted in the General area in a thread about converting duallies to singles.

He's kinda given up on it right now. He's concentrating on getting the motor in, the nitrous on, going 35 spline outters, cleaning all his old mistakes so it looks clean, and on and on. He's REALLY busting his ass on it as it is so the coils are back burner stuff now.

Yeah, I saw your post in General and called Roger. He wants $350 a piece for just the used hubs cause he only has two left. He said he would give me $100 credit for the dually hub. I only have one of them so it's worth it to get new hubs, rotors, races, bearings and seals from Boyce for $350 each.
Roger's a nice guy and knows what he has is getting more and more rare by the day so I don't fault him for wanting what he does for the hubs. Supply and demand does suck sometimes though ;)
