: Advice on a 75 Bronco
So I'm going to look at a 75 Bronco on Sunday. What I would like is everyone's advice on what to look for good/bad to decide wether or not to buy it. The guy is asking just over $1000 CDN for it.
Cons:
Apparently it hasn't been fired in 5 years.
No doors (not that that would be a bad thing but I'd like to drive it on the street and it rains here. Lots.)
Ugly roll bar prevents placement of top (That'll be fixed real quick though.)
No rad shroud, power steering box, or dash pad. (WTF is a dash pad?)
Some body rust.
No inner fenders on the front.
Pros:
No frame rust. (Will double check this for sure. Any spots to look for?)
59,300 original miles on odo.
Good dash.
So is this a good buy or what? I'd like to fix it up a bit and drive it around while my Toy is nearing completion, then do it up properly later on. All I know is I can't stand to drive my beater Tempo another day. Thanks for the input guys. :smokin:
Dude said he has doors which I'll probably grab if I get it aaaand, he said he has another tub which is basically mint but he wants $600 CDN for it. Is this a good deal? I really don't know much about what these things are worth as I'm a Toyota guy. All I know is I've always wanted an EB. Thanks.
FearMe 02-27-2002, 10:15 PM Both are a good deal.
Do any of you other EB guys have anything to say about this?
StoopidMonkey 02-28-2002, 10:43 PM Id hop on that tub, good rust free bronco tubs are hard to come by, at least here in Utah they are. 1000 canadian for a whole bronco is pretty cheap, whats that 100 US? :flipoff2: Id pick it up if it was near me.
He tells me now the spare tub has a little bit of surface rust. Are there any spots in particular to look for?
Kurtastrophe 02-28-2002, 11:05 PM I'd jump on the whole package myself.
I wouldn't consider myself an expert in Early Broncos, but I have owned 18 or so since 1990. Being in the Midwest, most of them got parted out, as the bodies were beyond repair.
Floor pans and the area under the hood by the windshield. Oh, did I say floor pans:D
And the rocker panels.
Run, don't walk to snag that deal.
Bronco's rule!!!!!

Kurtastrophe 02-28-2002, 11:18 PM Surface rust is no problem, but that can sometimes be an indicator of worse things.
- Fold the windshield frame down, and look at the lower w/s frame section. Can be a PITA to replace, as most EB's had w/s frame hinges that were spot-welded on. 1966 EB w/s frame hinges were bolted on.
- The inner fenders in front of the air intake boxes tend to rust. Easy to fix.
- Front door posts, where the door hinges bolt onto the body. A PITA to replace.
- Rear door posts, where the door latch is.
- Floorboards..... Fairly easy to fix.
- Rear fender..... Horizontal seam. This was the WORST part for me to fix on mine.
I noted some of the most common spots, not all of them. If you can, take someone with you to look at the EB's who KNOWS Early Broncos.
A buddy of mine who was too proud to ask me to go along with him got majorly hosed on a deal for one. Five years later, that tub of his will make a nice trail rig, as it is now mine....:D
He posted it in the buy and sell for today and said he got swamped with calls so I think I'll be picking it up. Plus I just found out that the spare tub comes with another frame! Only problem is the tub is at another location, and I don't know if we can fit them both on the trailer. Anyone know if an EB frame+tub will fit in the back of a fullsize 80's Chev? :D
Thanks JSSN and Alpo23 for the sound advice, I'm writing that down and taking it with me. I'm bringing two buddies along who are Ford nuts but not EB experts, I'll let you guys know how we make out.
Get this I just happened to be flipping through the Buy N Sell tonight and saw the ad for the Bronco that I'm going to look at, and right underneath that one was one for the same year, but running, with 4.11s, and a 4" lift for only $1600! I figure that one must have some pretty bad cancer going on or maybe the guy was smoking rocks. Who knows. Anyways just thought I'd share that. I'm going to call him tommorow and see if it's still there just in case.
