I have access to a '74 scout for parts and was looking to scavenge the steering box to mount on my Toy. Anyone familiar with this steering box? Would it be a good swap for my hysteer crossover swap? Thanks

Sure, just fawking cut up a good Scout for your tinfoil rig. Rape the axles off it too while you're at it, and make sure you crush it when you're done.:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I'm just messin' with ya. The box is just a regular old Saginaw, like Wagoneers and Chevy used forever. Yes it's a good candidate for a hi-steer setup, it's as strong a box as any and has a variety of pitman arms available (different lengths and drops) so you should be able to make something work.

The only thing I'd watch out for is that the SII box mounts to the outside of the framerail, which may not put the input shaft in a good position with respect to your steering column. In this case, a Wagoneer box may be better; they mount to the inside of the frame, generally.

The poor old binder is dead, it served its owners well and proved to be a tough truck. Both D44 housings are cracked and welded so I'd rather not swap the axles, plus there are too many teath floating around in the diff fluid. May it rust in peace...or pieces
