Ok the dumb ass has another question. im going to install a power sterring system on the scout 80. Gear box, lines and pump out of a dodge 4x. the scout has the original 152 and manual steering. Just had the tie rod, tie rod ends, drag link, and pitman arm rebuilt. every thing including ball joints are 1 ton chevy parts. will i need to change the pully on the pump to allow for the differant RMP's from the 318 to a 152? If so how big or how small do i go with the new pully to make the conversoin work properly? Will I also have to install the steering colum out of the dodge as well?

First of all, how are you going to mount the pump? I haven't found a good way to do that that would keep the belts short. Sencond, a 2wd mid 70's ford truck box is a bolt in. Third, it depends on the crank pulley diameter. If I was you, I'd just run it and see how it works as it is. If you feel you aren't getting eneough assist, slap a smaller pulley on.

You want to maintain the same pulley ratio you had stock on the dodge, so you need to know the crank pulley diameter.

If I can mount a power steering pump on a stock Nissan Patrol 242cid, you can mount a power steering pump to that IHC 152cid. It cant be THAT hard. If Im thinking correctly, the pulleys off of an IHC V8 should work on your slant-4. If so, that should give you double pulleys, and that would keep your belts short.

If I were you, I would go with the Ford box as Urban Wheeler pointed out. Keep your stock steering column, cause it should already have a rag joint. When you get your Ford box, be sure to get the steering shaft along with it.

Thanks for the info. It broke down AGAIN. It is now parked untill further notice. The dodge is getting some new wiring and it will see the road again for the first time in two years. hope fully i can build the scout the way i like.
