There is a new tubing bender manufacturer, I got it from Poly Performance and is made by JMR out of southern California. They have been making these for a few years now and I just got one. It is similar to a JD2 or Protools but much nicer. I had a M-tech and one JD2 die, but by the time I would have bought more dies and bought the hydro parts it wasnt much more to buy this. It works well and I am very happy with it. Now I just need to sell my old notcher and get their tubing notcher, it is bad ass.

The bender, hydraulics, stand and 1", 1.25" and 1.5" 120 deg dies is $3000.
The bender without dies is $2500

What makes it nicer? Sure looks alot like the JD2/Protools.

How far of a bend without repinning?

This is my same question...what makes it worth 8x what a JD2 costs or even more than double what a model 4 costs? It looks like a "knock off" with minor improvements...

It is a knock off with minor improvements. It will even except JD2 and protools dies. The main improvements are bushings at the pivot point so the bender doesnt fall apart when changing dies. They claim it will bend 1/4 wall chromoly. Compare a full blown electric hydraulic with cart/stand of a JD2, Mtech or Protools and this one is just a few hundred more. I never said it was the cheapest, but it is one the nicest. If you want to buy a $300 bender and piece it together, this is not for you, if you want a nice bender ready to go, seriously consider one.

It goes about 45 deg before repinning.

I dont believe they make a manual bender with the ratcheting arm like most. There manual bender uses a rack and pinion gear box that you turn with a ratchet. I dont know what these cost.

That is a good idea. I wonder if I can drill mine out to accept a bushing... :cool2:

I'm sure you could, that is also the main difference between the M-tech and JD2.

Hey guys I'm brand new here! My name is Scott and I live in Ventura. This is funny as hell. I was surfing the web and ran across this site and seen my garage bender and toys posted. LOL

I see a ton of bender threads on this site. All kind of guys making their own and such. Pretty kewl!

Here is the low down on Benders.
1993 I built my moster truck. JD2 bender...Piece of shit!
2001 Bought Pro Tools built pre runner. Looked like monkey screwing a football.
2004 Buddy buys JMR hydro. Bad Ass!!!
2005 Sold Pro Tools on ebay for $367.00
2005 Buy JMR manual bender. Redo both my sand rail chassis. Bends 1.75x .120 CroMOo with a 1/2" ratchet! Absolutly Incredible works as good as any bender ever! Like butter!

Takes no power or space in my garage. Hydo benders are useless unless you make 20 bends a day every day!

I bought my JMR notcher, Manual Bender, 2 stands, dies and degree wheel for less than 2K.

My next purchase is going to be a decent press and a set of JMR dimple dies. Those are trick!

Hope this helps, Scott

What made you say that JD2 benders are a piece of shit?
Was it there bender or dies or both?

Now, I don't agree with your hydro benders are useless comment.

My bender doesn't take up that much room and my whole setup including, degree wheel and a die set cost me approx $700 (Built it myself). Mine uses 3/4 inch arms and can push up to 15 tons of force. It was modeled off of the JD2 bender but built a little heavy duty. It can also bend between 120 - 130 deg's without repinning. For $1299 (under 2k) more, I could have a notcher and 3 more die sets (with money to spare for beer).

Now granted that ratchet bender it pretty cool but I still would rather have my hydro.
