: vacuum pump TDI300

The patient is a 97 TDI300 SW, it's quite a time he suffers from a poor braking ability.
Well, I suspected the vacuum pump mounted on the engine, since it leeks a bit (like most stuff on land rovers :mad3: ).
First thing I gonna check the vacuum it gives, but I don’t know which values it should give normally.
So my first question is what are values it should give Vs. RPM?
Next, since the bitch is a my daily vehicle I didn’t had a chance to take a god look at the vacuum pump – mounted bellow the air filter cartridge. So, anyone has a clear shot of the pump?

I'm almost sure the problem is not the booster, since the brake pedal doesn’t go all the way to the firewall.
If the vacuum rate will be normal, or maybe anyway, I'll replace the one way flow valve.

Anyway thanks for all answers to come

They are made by Wabco. Encapsulated with plastic, are not supposed to be seviceable, but I have hear rumors that they can be.

I don't follow your logic for why you are sure that it is not the booster - your reason seems wrong to me.

hu there bush,

at the moment i would like to check the vacuum valueas of the pump. why? becouse it leeks. then i'll proceed on.
i like to start from the begining.

so, do you know the normal values?

No idea of the spicific values of the pump, but most engine vacuum systems are designed to work at about 15psi (1 Bar). If the pump can create that amount of vacuum at about 1000 rpm then I wouldn't worry about it.

If it leaks and you have brake assist problems replace it or fix it. Common sense would tell you that. Common sense has no measured values-but a little goes a long way.
