Does anyone have any experence with these windshields ?
I'm concerned about mud scratching it...Also, is percy's the only place to buy them $320 (for a cj) seems like a lot of $ , especially if it's gonna scratch.

Didn't someone on the board install one?
I have a faint recollection of a certain "sledgehsmmer test".......
And if i also remember, the use of wipers on them would lead to scratching. But that is with a lot of use....

I'm machining them for FJ 40's out of SAR(super abrasion resistant) polycarbonate and $300.00 is a lot of money!

But, if you want sledge proof shiat, PC is your best friend!

Yea, I see that lucite SAR comes in 4X8 sheets...thats 3 windshields plus damn near a 1/2 sheet for other stuff, or 6x8 thats 7 windshields...
Have you used it yet ?...how does it hold up ?
I could live with the scratches if it didn't cost much to replace it.

If you can get a drawing of your windshield with dimensions I'll let you test one out!

Are you or a buddy CAD literate?

If not, PM me with dims and I could draw it up and cut one for you to try.

Hmmmm, This is getting interesting. : )
I have autocad. I'll get some measurements and see what I can come up with.
I need to get the old glass out of the mangled frame to get the dims., I'll get back with ya.

I just got finished adding some 12ga. steel to beef-up my new w/s frame, then I broke the fawkin glass trying to extract it from the old frame...
I average 1 glass and frame per year, and it's getting old...

HaHa...U guys are really funny
FYI, Everybody has seen me with a busted w/s...I hate em but the warden likes them...
I bought this glass and frame last spring in tellico, after I rolled on the helopad and took out a new frame and glass (fawk), it lasted about 3 mo., then I smashed the frame at the badlands (log-run bonzi).
I just modified this new frame so I can pull 4 clevis pins and take it off :) ...(just in case I have to really bonzi something to keep up w/ You and the roofer)...Bwahahahahahahaha,Bwahahaha

i smashed my windshield and frame this past weekend. I'm having avalanche build me a cage with an integrated speedglas windshield. hopefully it'll hold up to my next tippy adventure. their price is the same as it'd cost me to buy a new cage, new frame, and new windshield so i figure it's worth a shot.
