Putting high steer arms on GM flattops. (9/16th-18tpi studs, grade C lock =nuts, and the good ole cone washers)
Anyone have a definitive answer on torque spec for this?
Found this but they are "toy guys" talking about "steering arms" not sure if they are talking the same thing.

I use the "wrench it till it strips, and then two full turns" method on most everything, except steering and brakes, so I'd like to get this right.
:p
Thanks for the help.

That's where the problem is. You have to tighten until it strips, and then back off 1/4 turn :D
But seriously, I don't know.

I got written down in my notes that is it 90ft-lbs. I have yet to do my SAS swap so I am taking notes on all the useful info I come across. My flat tops ship out tomorrow through :)

I have no idea of the torque. But seeing as how you will be tighting a 9/16 fine thread hardened nut onto a hardened stud. I'm thinking that you can make it as tight as you can get it by hand.
The manual I have says 90 ft lbs.

I've heard that studs are stronger than bolts', but why? I just can't see it.
Why the cone washer?
I've ordered a pair of Avalanche?s arms (they came way down in price), and don't know if they use a cone washer or not...
I'm a bit nervous with it now that I've committed to full hydro...Nervous that I'm gonna' rip the arms right off the top of my chev. knuckles...

Studs are supposed to be stronger which seems right cuz they are used instead of bolts in high stress applications. SorryI couldn't explain it. Anyway the Avalanche arms use the cone washers. Which is the only way to make sure that they will be strong enough. Later
