I thought '83 had a centered diff. (within 1 or 2"). If It's off 7 or 8" I would'nt do it, unless it's a low speed trail rig.

IF you are really going to do this make sure you use the centered diff just like CJ-Jeeper said. You can get them out of the 80 & 81 Wagoneers for sure and I think you can go up to 84. The offset Cherokee won't work. The front axle is the Driver's drop DANA 44 and the centered rear is going to be the AMC20 with the fully round diff cover. This set should work for you. I have a '76 FSJ Cherokee 2 door so I don't know how to make the DANA44 bolt up. As far as I know you will have to outboard your springs to make them bolt up to the spring pads. The AMC20 will be a snap to get them to bolt up cuz you can put the pads wherever you need 'em.

SCUFFY ... check out this THREAD (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31632). IT'll give you a good idea of what your rig will look like and you might be able to get some pointers from these guys. Another good tool is the "search" function. That would be the best way to avoid getting flamed for re-asking questions that may have been answered many times over.

BTW ... Welcome Newbie! :flipoff2: ...

It's almost a direct bolt in.
The front spring perches are off by .5" some grind them, some twist the springs in. I used a coil conversion kit for mine...

The rear are easily moved.
