I bet your grandparents love you as much as your mom :flipoff2: :D
that thing definately has some potential :smokin: now I need to bob mine 15", but that will have to wait until after the 24 valve cummins!
Jason M 06-03-2005, 02:09 PM nice sticker in the rear window. :)
I got tagged by the delivery bitch ;)
Grandparents don't mind.. I only have one truck stored there, for now :D
RustyNailJustin 06-03-2005, 02:43 PM Whats the plan with it?
Jason M 06-03-2005, 02:54 PM Family hauler/wheeler
Turbo 2F that is Injected/4 speed/marlin(203)/splittcase
Probbaly do a 2.5" Lift to match the quasi Springover in the rear.. 33x9.50's as DD tires. 35's for moab....
single locker in the back till I decide ARB's are worth a shit..
Honestly I just want a comfy family runner..
orangefj45 06-03-2005, 03:02 PM need a 203-split case adapter? got a brand new one fer sail! :grinpimp:

Cool! You should do a build thread :D that would be real cool!

ROCK HUGGER 06-03-2005, 05:00 PM That thing will be cool when your done. Is it going to get turbo'd :flipoff2:
Jason M 06-03-2005, 06:02 PM But of course :D
This one will have a slightly smaller turbo with a motor that will be built for it.. Should spank pretty good...
Can't wait to beat V8's :D

Think the hood is salvageable??
sixty 06-06-2005, 09:18 AM depends, you could probably make it look pretty good but it would be alot of work. if you could get a good one for a good price, go that route. it would probably take about 5-6 hours to straighten it
Jason M 06-06-2005, 10:31 AM I'll find another hood then..
rugburn 06-06-2005, 07:31 PM For the rust belt, that is not too bad looking...............
Good luck with the build.

I need a 60 hood. Did I hear of a Colorado trip planned for some of your group??
Wanna send it with them?? I can easily pick it up in denver (inlaws and my aunt live there)
I know a great bar in Ft Collins :D
If you just want to greyhound it that is cool as well.
Thanks amigo :)

rugburn 08-03-2005, 10:52 AM Glad to see you made it home.
Did you get the cruise control working?
Now get that stubby 60 off of the ground and get ir done!
Jason M 08-03-2005, 11:01 AM Nope, no cruise on the ford...
Not that big of a deal anyway.. Too many stupid truckers in the way..
Stubby will be rolling once I figure out what carb/fuelinjection to use.
I have a couple of choices.
85 asin carb (needs rebuild)
late 70's asin carb (needs rebuild)
tbi with a reburned chip (have everything but the chip and the adapter)
TBI with Megasquirt (have the TBI stuff but do not have the adapter and would have to buy the MS stuff)
The TBI with MS is the best choice. I will be using that setup on stubby when I go to turbocharge the motor. The adjustability of the MS system is truly impressive.
Right now I just want to get it rolling and pass smog
Opinions?? Ideas?
wngrog 08-03-2005, 12:43 PM Do it right the first time and do the TBI MS system now. Less to re-do when you get the Turbo.
Jason M 08-03-2005, 12:50 PM that is what I am leaning towards...
Now all I need is to sell the computer that I have to help fund the MS system :)
Anyone have a TBI adapter sitting around that they don't want??? :D

Reljac has one, he is calling you tonight. I gave him your number.
bustanutley 08-03-2005, 01:23 PM Is spaceghost making the TBI adapters yet/still?
Oh and this may be a dumb question that i should search, but I thought that the mega squirt was for propane convertions. How dose it work with TBI, where dose it fit into the equation.
Jason M 08-03-2005, 02:12 PM megasquirt is a fuel injection controler that principally is set up for batch fire.
I have not heard it's usage in propane conversions..
Just with a TBI throttle body.

rugburn 08-04-2005, 07:24 AM Mace,
WIll you be doing the 203 and splitcase adapter as well prior to getting it on the road?
If so, I would be interested in the setup info........
I will post a pic of my 60 in a few.... :smokin:
wngrog 08-04-2005, 08:14 AM Do I see a hood in the back of that sweet 60?
Jason M 08-04-2005, 08:47 AM lol
No 203 for me as of yet. I really want to get this ruig running first. The motor and injection is my primary concern. More expensive toys like the turbo and 203 are not in the works yet.
60's are a good lookin truck..
DHONDAGOD 08-04-2005, 10:51 PM do you have a 203 rangebox yet? i have a couple if you need one...
rugburn, nice to see your still around, :p pm me if you have a clear 40 hood avail.
jason, ive had to fight off people here to keep them out of your beer, :bounce: i really need to bring this to you.. hopefully i can make the gambol run. its going to depend on school and when i can get away.. (i got keys to my classroom today)
hopefully i can pull it off. also i recieved my tlc membership and my first toyota trails. woo hoo... :D
now how about some pics and get going on the tech stuff huh?
chris :cool2:
Jason M 08-05-2005, 07:43 AM No rangebox yet. I mighttake you up on that but I really want to get the truck running and functional before I start to tear into it again ;)
I am not suprised that you have to fight people off of that beer. It is VERY good stuff :)
You would be more than welcome at the gambol. congrats on the TLCA stuff :)
Sheesh.. I've only had this thing 5 days and I am getting greif about not having it done yet....

Jason M 08-05-2005, 07:45 AM BTW, I think I figured out a name for this truck....
Bob
:D
DHONDAGOD 08-05-2005, 12:14 PM spelled backwards its still "bob"
chris :cool2:
Jason M 08-07-2005, 01:56 PM got Bob off of the trailer and proceeded to spring under the rear end.
Don't like the height it ended up as..
Actually, it is not as much a height issue but more of a Holy cow those springs are long thing (stock waggy springs)
Jason M 08-07-2005, 02:02 PM interior is in pretty dam good condition.. I am very happy all things considered..

Jason M 08-08-2005, 07:32 AM 35's.. it does look good but the rear springs stick out a TON.
I'll be smacking them all the time if I don't lift it a bit..

sixty 08-08-2005, 05:20 PM Well I can finally access the board from work :shaking:
I like the low look but I don't think it will function very well. have you thought about rear springs off of a toyota landcruiser fj60 :flipoff2:
I think you should either find a set of decent set of fj60 lift springs or get a better ride & spring it over.
I still need to get over there & check it out!!
Jason M 08-08-2005, 09:14 PM It will take you at least that long to get all of the rest of that crap ready ;)
probably, but it really chaffs my instant gratification thing with new toys...
Hell yes you have to some over. I need to get you your parts back any way..
I would actually do 60 springs but the way the waggys are frenched into the frame will not allow it.
I am going to go back to the SO and pull the overload leaf to see how it flexes.. I am thinking that the springs will be neg most of the time ;)
rugburn 08-09-2005, 10:10 AM Mace,
Gotta gut the interior.
Loose the headliner and carpeting.
I gutted my interior and it is so clean without the smells of 25 years worth of yuck.
Good chatting with you last night.
kling-on 08-09-2005, 12:19 PM I got a cast y arm for crosss over steering if your goin SOA, if you want it $100.00 plus the ride paid $150 and never used it :mad3:
Jason M 08-09-2005, 01:06 PM The front will never be SOA. There just is too much room available for the 35's..
PLus I just flat out don't want this rig that tall. It sits almost the way I want it right now.
The freaking rear springs are just too flat and too long ;)
Thanks for the offer tho!!!
And rug,
No chance on gutting the interior. I Like the headliner. In fact, I still have to do a bit of work to it to make it fit properly.
kling-on 08-09-2005, 01:55 PM The front will never be SOA. There just is too much room available for the 35's...
too bad the would look killer on SOA and 38's :grinpimp:
Jason M 08-09-2005, 04:01 PM heck, I would prefer it on 33's!!
;)
Jason M 08-11-2005, 01:56 PM Well, I think I have the rear springs figured out.
Here is a closeup of how the springs sat while the truck was a springover.
http://forum.ih8mud.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32032&stc=1
problem is that the springs (waggy) were just flat out too long..
When I switched the truck over to spring under the springs completly killed the departure angle. Nice short bobbed rear section and a set of shackles to ruin it.
I looked at a bunch of spring options and could not find a spring that was ~ 4" shorter and still had the center pin in a spot close to where it is right now.
The answer to me was to make a new main leaf for the springpack.
Call up Alcan and they are sending me a new mainleaf (slightly higher springrate and a tad bit more arch) that is 4" shorter (on the longside) for $50 per leaf.
I think I can actually use the stock shackle hanger now too ;)
I am pleased :D
Okay, cost into this project so far...
$100 for new rear leaf springs...
(I want to keep a running tally of how much I actually end up spending on this beast.. )
Jason M 08-21-2005, 06:22 PM Got the new Leafs from Alcan. Nice people. Great service.
They forgot the spring eye bushings.. So they are sending me a set for free.
Considering I only Paid $100 for the leaves and the spring bushing kit costs around $45 It was considerably more than I expected. (I offered to pay for them and they politely declined)
specs, the alcan springs ended up being 5" shorter than the stock waggy springs. and were made of a slightly heavier spring rate material. also since they are 5" shorter the effective spring rate will be increased... We shall see if the spring rate is a bit more than I want or not. If so, I'll just start pulling leaves :)
This length spring allows me to use the stock spring hanger on the frame. Very handy not having to fab anything new..

Cruiser Ken 08-21-2005, 07:25 PM Nice springs, but why not just move the rear shackle hanger back about 4 inches?
Nevermind, I read your post again, departure angle.
Jason M 09-04-2005, 02:06 PM Got the rear springs on.
Fit is perfect. And they are exactly the height that I wanted them to be.
Looks pretty dam good if you ask me :)
Still waiting on the megasquirt stuff :(
Measured the frame, 17" to the from the ground to the frame.
13" to the skidplate. I need to clock the tcase ;)

I got the component parts in for the Megasquirt fuel injection controler.
This is not quite everything I need ;)
Every piece in this pile has to be soldered to the mother board..
I suspect that I have a bit of a headache ahead of me.
What is the complusion that I have with "doing things myself"???
bigheadfj40 09-11-2005, 12:06 AM my hat's off to you for being willing to do that sort of soldering. I did home theatre amps for a summer, and even doing the same thing over and over, they were always hard. Doing something like that (much more complex)...good luck to ya.
Jason M 09-11-2005, 08:05 PM Got a FJ60 fuel sender and a FJ62 fuel pump instaled into the tank that I am going to use on Bob. Since I am going to go to a TBI setup I decided that the easiest way to have a consistantly usefull pump was to do an intank pump. Searching around in the junkyards for a TBI in tank pump was frustrating. I could not find a single pump that was a bolt in system. They were all twist to lock. So I ended up using a FJ62 pump. Fits perfectly (I am going to have to increase the length of the pickup but that is easy). The 62 pump puts out around 30ish psi which is too much for the GM tBI system. Fortunately, I can get one of the standard pressure stabilizers to lower the pressure. Failing that, the TBI has a bypass that shoudl protect it.
Now I am going to pull everything out and have the tank dipped to remove all paint and rust/rocks/dirt/cobwebs from the inside.

texican 09-11-2005, 08:23 PM [QUOTE=Jason M] is easy). The 62 pump puts out around 30ish psi which is too much for the GM tBI system. Fortunately, I can get one of the standard pressure stabilizers to lower the pressure. Failing that, the TBI has a bypass that shoudl protect it.
You must reduce the pressure prior to it hitting the TBI, it will not handle that much pressure.....how I know?
A customer installed a pump designed to go into a Vortec in his 90 TBI, flooded like a sumbich......
Butch
Jason M 09-11-2005, 08:43 PM Yep, that is why I am going to limit it with a fuel pressure regulator.
There apparently are people that are just using the bypass on the tbi unit with the 62 pump tho..
I would think that the 30 odd psi would be easier on the TBI system then the 90 odd psi that a vortec pump puts out..
Hopefully.
Crossing fingers
and running a regulator as well :)
Jason M 01-17-2006, 09:24 PM So Bob took a bit of a turn..
The MS TBI system I was planning was not going to be smog legal..
Sooooo, I am building up a warmed over 302 motor for it.
So the new drivetrain is 5.0/c6/203/splittcase..
UNFORTUNATELY...
The freaking ford 203 rangebox has a flipped bolt pattern between the rangebox and the case. So, the standard 203/splittcase adapter DOESN"T WORK!!!!!!!
Fawk I hate learning experiences...
I need to measure a bunch to see if I can get a adapter plate made that will work with this combo..
FAWK!!!
green73 01-17-2006, 11:12 PM Jason
Could you use the Megasquirt stuff on the VW project? What year does Nevada stop the sniffer bit? Sux that it wouldn't have been "smog nazi legal" on Bob. I can't comprehend why a system that is potentially more efficient and cleaner than factory is "illegal". I guess adjustability has everything to do with it. I am looking into the Megasquirt stuff for my 2FE project. Damn their site/products are intimidating! I think I can get it to work though.
Gunmetalcruz 01-18-2006, 06:59 PM Jason , with you doing the 5.0 build are you planning on using the stock 60 radiator? If not my wife needs one for her 62 if we could work something out.
Jason M 01-18-2006, 08:54 PM the tanks on the 60 radiator are hashed. But the core is apparently good.
You can have it if you want. Funny thing was I was in Carson today. I could have brought it up..
Ms stuff is really not that complex. But it does not allow me to keep all of the smog crap. That is what killed me. It really sucked. I would have rather have used the 2F with the MS system.
I still can't believe that I need to find a way to make another adapter :(
Jason M 01-19-2006, 03:54 PM So here is the solution...
Get a GM 203 that has the correct bolt pattern on the back and redrill the face for the big 6 ford output and install the 31 spline Ford gears and input into the chevy case..
Dam.. this is harder that I thought
DHONDAGOD 01-19-2006, 05:28 PM jason, call me back when you get a chance. i may have one...
chris:cool2:
Jason M 01-19-2006, 08:16 PM Thanks Chris, I am getting one from Andre..

Another interesting tidbit...
Apparently the Dodge 203's had a similar input to a CM unit between 76 to 79. HOWEVER, they had a ford 6" bolt pattern between 81 to 87...
Hey Chris, that dodge 203 you have happen to be between 81 and 86???
I'll give you a ring.
Jason M 06-07-2006, 02:29 PM Got the 203 hashed out.. GM 203 drilled to the Ford round six pattern with the ford input gear..
Got a radiator from a 96 F150 with a 302. Al center with plastic tanks and a built in Tranny cooler.
Using a Taurus fan with an additional shroud (made out of a old Horse feeder) to cool the motor..
Should be in the truck by this weekend.
I'll post pics later..
Jason M 06-11-2006, 01:55 PM HOLY SHIT I GOT SOMETHING DONE!!!!
Started placement on the motor today. It sits fairly far back and there is a TON of room between the motor and the radiator..
Over all I am not overly pleased with the motor mount cradle. Without doing a springover the bottom of the cradle comes very close to hitting the front diff. Once I get the tcases on I can figure out if I need to move the motor forwards or not. As it stands. I have very little room on the DS for steering (spagetti headers do take up a lot of room)
What is the standard amount of tilt that most V8's have in them when you do a conversion like this? It seems like my motor is angled back considerably.. Don't think that is a huge deal considering that the oil pickup is in the rear but I would hate to be wrong..

Jason M 06-25-2006, 01:57 PM Got the shifters laid out and ready ro the final fitting..
Unfortunately I am a dumbass and forgot to get a input seal for the tcase so I am on hold till the seal arrives (nobody carries one in town). After that the tcases go into the truck and final fittment occurs. After everything is happy, I'll rip it out again to final weld the tacks that I have been putting on everything..

wngrog 06-25-2006, 03:54 PM Are those the permanent shifters?
YOu can take them out and cut them up some to add a little bling once you get it mocked up. Maybe drill some holes in the end or something.
Looks good Mace, keep it up.
Jason M 06-25-2006, 04:45 PM That's the idea. Once I get the length figured out and everything else I am going to sandwitch either side of the stock with the same stuff. Drill some speed holes and make some finger grooves. Plus bend them out to there is knuckle clearance..
It is a start, and should actually look good when I am done..
Gotta get the 60 fully fun for when you and Bruce come out here for the Jambo :D
DHONDAGOD 09-04-2006, 08:14 PM well, its been a while... bout time for an update....:grinpimp:
chris:cool2:
Jason M 09-04-2006, 09:19 PM nothin to update. The motor tranny and tcases are in it. But that is it. It is way to fawking hot to work on it right now..
Plus, I just found out that the entire drivetrain in the 40 moves when the suspension flexes
Jason M 12-06-2006, 02:57 PM Started designing the rear suspension for the 60.
The rear shackles will hit everything. And considering that I want to keep it low and not negate the bob job links were in order....
Sat and worked on the design fora while and came up with a standard wishbone 3 link.
32" lowers and 28" uppers (lowers are not triangulated)
Lowers will use a Nth degree Gyro Joint at the frame and 2x .250 wall Dom. with Bushings at the axle end.
http://www.nthdegreemobility.com/catalog/images/special_products/gj_diy_main.jpg
Upper will use a ruffstuffspecialties 3 leg link frame mount with bushings and probably a 1.25" heim or 2" (or 2.5 I can't remember) Johnny joint if I can convince myself that the JJ is a good idea (I alerady have one and the reason I am not using it right now is because I hate them)
http://ruffstuffspecialties.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_33leg.jpg
Looks like about 85% AS
69" instant center x.
20" instant center Z.
For some reason the roll center is only giving me "NaN" for an opuput. Gotta ask Traiged why that is..
Jason M 12-09-2006, 12:16 PM got the gyro joints in. Pretty interesting joint actually. Not very conventional at all..
I am going to plate the sides with a teardrop to make them stronger.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=276754&d=1165695385
More like a hip joint..
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=276755&d=1165695385
1" shank.. pretty beefy and lubeable..
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=276756&d=1165695385
wes8517 12-09-2006, 12:32 PM hmmm, ive never seen one of those gyro joints, but it looks beefy as hell and like itd be good for a 3 link. is the cup part teflon or rubber or what?
TxCruzr 12-09-2006, 01:47 PM 1" shank.. pretty beefy and lubeable..
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=276756&d=1165695385
Thats just wrong :rainbow: :flipoff2:
Jason M 12-09-2006, 02:58 PM :flipoff2:
Well, they are designed to be in compression, not tension.. So they are better for lower links instead of upper links..
The top of the wishbone will probaby get a big ass heim..
rugburn 12-09-2006, 05:37 PM :flipoff2:
I am gonna bone him with a big ass heim..
:barf:
brokenparts 12-09-2006, 06:22 PM fawk those gyro joints look burley... Hurry up already I wanna see this thing done!
Jason M 12-10-2006, 02:04 AM fawk those gyro joints look burley... Hurry up already I wanna see this thing done!
So do I :)
I need to hit the steel ard for some upper link material.. I'll do that monday..
Bite me Runberg :flipoff2:
Jason M 12-11-2006, 09:34 PM got some of gravelmakers frame side link mounts for the upper wishbone..
Dam, 3/8" thick three leg mount :)
I am going to run Jeep waggy bushings on the frame side and axle side, they fit perfectly in a 2" x .250 wall dom sleve. I think I should be able to drag them across rocks with impunity :)
wngrog 12-12-2006, 05:13 AM Is that a poopy diaper on the floor?
DHONDAGOD 12-12-2006, 08:01 AM Is that a poopy diaper on the floor?
Huh, I never notice stuff like that..... Must be from your unique perspective being so close to the ground....:flipoff2:
Chris:cool2:
Jason M 12-17-2006, 09:27 AM not a poopy diaper assholes :flipoff2:
Started building the lower links.
The links themselves are made out of 2" .250 tubing.
Still debating using the 2" .250 wall tubing for the bushings.. As it stands, I'll be using 1.75 .120 wall..
The Gyro joints came in 1 x 14 tpi. unfortunately there is not a readily available weld in insert for 1.5" ID tubing.. so I had to make some spacers with 1.5" OD DOM and slip fit it to the inserts..
Worked out great actually
Jason M 01-07-2007, 11:27 AM Building the rear axle bridge,
I got Gravelmakers FJ40 bridge, it works fairly well for the 60, not perfectly centered but not half bad at all..
I also wanted to integrate the third leg into a midway support. But the support is basicaly 1.5 x 3 tubing (inner half was welded then the outer section was welded to the housing and the inner section) So it is strong just by design..
Still, I can't help wanting that 100 hp nitrous shot stupid protection....
Comments?
Jason M 01-07-2007, 11:28 AM cut down three leg link mount..
Jason M 01-07-2007, 11:28 AM And what I was thinkin for support (but with the sides plated too.)
Jason M 01-07-2007, 11:29 AM BTW, that three leg support is 3/8" thick.. this stuff is beefy..
waggoner5 01-07-2007, 01:08 PM Thats some cool stuff Mace. I can't wait to see the final on this one.
Jason M 01-07-2007, 02:07 PM You and me both Gary :D
Jason M 01-07-2007, 06:08 PM And how the Gyro joints ended up. I am not going to fully weld them untill they are finalized in the truck.. the mounts will be under the frame but inboarded a bit so I can get to the nuts that hold the Gyro joints to the frame. Think rear spring mounts but inboarded instead of outboarded..
BTW, the side plates are 3/8" steel. I doubt they are gonna bend ;)
Jason M 01-07-2007, 06:09 PM And the final link design. "eye" to eye length is 33" or so..
2" .250 chromo should be plenty strong for the 60..
If I bend them, 2" solid AL it will be..
Jason M 04-07-2007, 06:46 PM Ahhh, rear suspension is done and the truck is on it's legs again.
Suspension is a 1/4 elliptical with a wishbone 3 link..
Upper is 2" square receiver hitch tubing and lowers are 2" .250 wall chromo..
Jason M 04-07-2007, 06:48 PM stance is a bit higher in the rear than I wanted, But with a good solid rear bumper/spare tire carrier and the additional camping weight it just might be perfect.
wngrog 04-08-2007, 05:31 AM When is it headed to Chris'? Looks good and low for a 1/4 elip.
kling-on 04-08-2007, 07:17 AM LOOKIN GOOD I like it alot
Jason M 04-08-2007, 08:27 AM Hopefully I'll be able to haul it to Chris' house in mid May..
As long as it works for him.
That will give me about a month of playtime with the rig before the Rubithon :D

Gravel Maker 04-08-2007, 11:44 AM How much did you remove from my tabs to make these fit?
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=281236&stc=1&d=1168222109
I like that combination and might try it myself......
Jason M 04-08-2007, 01:50 PM Actually Dan, those are just some side plates that I made out of 3/8" plate and the Gyro joints from Nth degree engineering...
Your brackets are the upper frame side link mounts and the lower axle end tabs. I do so enjoy 3/8" tabs lol
:D
mrqtipp 06-01-2007, 11:30 PM ruffstuff makes some awsome tabs. Build looks great
Jason M 11-09-2007, 08:46 AM Figured I should update this thread (2 years aint bad is it?? :D )
The motor is in, just neesds a bit more wiring and it will spark
Jason M 11-09-2007, 08:58 AM Exhaust was a serious pita. Dahondagod did an amazing job on it tho..
The Y pipe needed tight tolerances, so we had to build a jig to make it, fun times :)
Jason M 11-09-2007, 09:00 AM The Y pipe was not the only issue. Tucking everything up and out of the way was not the easiest thing in the world..
Jason M 11-09-2007, 09:03 AM Course, then he had to fit the rest of the exhaust through the rear Y link..
Jason M 11-09-2007, 09:06 AM Another issue was the fuel tank. Because the rear has had 14" removed, the stock tank was useless.
Chris to the rescue again :D
Custom 25 gal AL tank. Fully baffled in the inside, It is a freaking maze...
and, hooks up to the stock filler :smokin:
Jason M 11-09-2007, 09:08 AM I really wanted a in tank fuel pump for reliability. Chris designed the setup and I drilled and tapped it for the fuel press and reutrn line..
As soon as I have a rod (holder for the fule pump itself) and the plastic tubes that will give the unit power I'll comeplete the unit..
65SWB45 11-09-2007, 11:26 AM Chris' shop looks real familiar.:p
Do you think you're gonna have any starter issues with the pipe wrapped so close? You guys did a heck of a job keeping some clean lines around the rear springs. That's always one of the hardest spots, and one that peeps don't want to spend time on.
Keep some momentum on this Jason.:smokin:
Jason M 11-09-2007, 12:04 PM The starter solenoid is mounted to the fender which shoudl help with heat issues.
If I run into problems, I'll build a littel heat shield.
The 60 is moving into my garage so I will be able to at least play with it in the evenings..
It is sooo close to running and driving..

Hope you have a better HOA in your 'hood' than Greenfox!
RustyNailJustin 11-10-2007, 09:27 AM Good stuff! I bet you are ready to get it on the road, after a couple years of working on it. The tank and exhust look top notch, I like the low profile both to p and bottom of the tank. Do wonder how you will like that 1/4 elip, I have never been 100% sold on them esp with a lot of weight and a fairly high center of gravity.
Keep up the good work, and get it done.
BTW love the bob tail!

Medusa's is the only 1/4 elip that I have ever watched that worked well. His kicks butt, but then, Jack is the man of course.
Jason M 11-10-2007, 12:52 PM The cruiser sits very low. so I am not all that concerned about it. Plus, it was the easiest spring to fit ;) This cruiser is not gonna be a hammers rig. Moab and thew rubicon max... I am positive that it will not work as well as jacks.
I am dying to have it running. Hence the desire to make room in my garage for it. $.50 per gallon more for diesel over unleaded is makin me itchy ;)
I hop to have it running by thanksgiving..

Jason M 11-13-2007, 08:48 PM Woody helped me get the cruiser in the garage. A bit of a tight fit ;)
Jason M 11-13-2007, 08:49 PM with the 60 in the garage we were able to pull the front windshield and see what Wisconsin winters do to a FJ's body..
Not horrid but not good either.
Anyone happen to have these parts in reasonable shape?
Jason M 11-13-2007, 08:52 PM I did get the Lokar mounted and fully hooked up. Donno if I am gonna like it or not. It seems relatively user friendly, but we will see. I really need to get one of the dash indicators for it...
(BTW, dig the triple shifter boot for the tcases ;) )
Anyone have a lead on a reasonable carpet kit? I am gonna try to steam clean that carpet but I think that is a losing battle..
Jason M 11-13-2007, 08:54 PM BTW, just a FYI,
the fittings on the Stock PS box are
16mm x 1.5 inverted flare to #6jic for the pressure side and
17mm x 1.5 inverted flare to #6jic for the return side
What a headache. But I am glad it is finalized..

65SWB45 11-13-2007, 09:30 PM Are you looking for the A pillars Jason? I'm just about ready to finish cutting up that same FJ60 I gave you the core support from a while back.
Yeah I move slow too.:p
Jason M 11-14-2007, 08:01 AM Not the whole A pillars, just the corners at the bottom :D
RustyNailJustin 11-14-2007, 08:35 AM Jason I may beable to help on those Apillar corners give me a ring. 970-261-9757
Jason M 11-14-2007, 06:28 PM Finished the intank fuel pump.
turned out fairly nice..
What method did you use to pass the hot lead through the lid? I used a bolt through a grommet and some rubber washers but curious what other methods their are.
Jason M 11-14-2007, 07:32 PM bolt and plastic washers/bushings..
DHONDAGOD 11-23-2007, 01:33 PM Well? I havent heard anything, :D does it run yet?

Holy shit I never called you back about that A pillar:shaking: How lame is that? Still looking?
wngrog 12-19-2007, 06:29 PM Go look back at the Mud thread.....lots of references to Glitter and you never caught on. Classic.
Jason M 12-19-2007, 09:05 PM I never said I was very bright.....
Justin, I got the corners covered, thanks tho!!!
Bring that pile to KO. We have snow that requires throttle:D
or just take Grammamas TJ:flipoff2:
Jason M 12-21-2007, 08:04 AM F'n long time amigo :)
Como Frijoles???
Jason M 01-06-2008, 08:49 PM Damn the little things take a while to get done....
I managed to get all of the heater hoses routed, the on board shower in (can't be dirty on the trail right??), the radiator finalized (new and 2 core instead of single core), the radiator hoses on, a proper length serp belt, the mechanical fan on, built a distribution block for the oil pres senders (I have three), the charcoal canister in but not hooked up, the PS hoses made and hooked up, the aircleaner supported and was in the process of hooikng the rear DS up to go take it for a drive and realized that I had put the front third in the rear axle (the patterns are different)...
Unbelieveable..
So, my goal of driving it today was not gonna happen.. Damnit..
I also noticed that the check engine light was on. So I ran the codes, Not sufficient PSI on the EVAp system (not an issue, I have it plugged in but none of the vac lines hooked up as of yet..) and the EGR valve was not getting power (popped the hood and noticed that it was not hooked up). Gotta love plug and play motors...
I wanna drive this cruiser so bad I can taste it...
pics..
The motor is looking good now :D

Jason M 01-06-2008, 08:50 PM Had fun with this. I needed the stock ford oil press sender to make the motor work. I wanted the stock gauge to oil press gauge to work and I got an aftermarket gauge as well.. So I had to make a manifold for all of the senders... $2.00 worth of AL block a drill press and away we went. BTW, for the engineers, the 2F oil press sender is metric thread, everything else is npt ;)

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u218/mace_pics/FJ60/DSCF1458.jpg
I also found out why the heater and AC controls were not working.. The main power lead from the battery was fubared.. Shortened them and removed all of the silly connectors that they have...
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u218/mace_pics/FJ60/DSCF1465.jpg
Jason M 01-06-2008, 08:51 PM BTW, I think MOST of the glitter is gone...
:flipoff2:
wngrog 01-07-2008, 06:20 AM Is that the compressor on the top of the motor? Looks so big....
Jason M 01-07-2008, 08:11 AM With the yellow junkyard paint spolt on it? That is the AC compressor..
And it is gonna be an AC truck. I wanna hit death valley in the summer without concern :D

Yep, finished, and been my daily driver for about 4 months now. Even got to take it off road onece or twice.
The onyl bummer about it right now is the fan shroud. I made one work out of a bronco, and unfortunately, it is not perfectly centered. So it hits the fan while wheeling. Seriously annoying. I might just remove it for now and see how good it is at cooling without it. If I still need it, I'll just make one out of sheetmetal.
That and I need a different tstat.. I can not get the truck to warm up at all if it is cold out. Not a huge deal here in Vegas, but the mustang EFI runs like crap if the truck is not warmed up properly..
Just a couple of little things to work on..

RustyNailJustin 01-03-2012, 05:01 PM That's awesome man. Happy to see you using it. Did you have many bugs to workout?
Jason M 01-03-2012, 05:05 PM only a couple honestly.
I screwed up on the flex plate and smashed the TC into the C6, so it now has a AOD in it. And I can talk while cruising at 70.
I replaced the radiator with a new one, and also upgraded to a Cobra intake.
I honestly can't believe how well it went together.
