o.k. guys, new to the whole "Nissan" thing, but here is what I found.

two 1969 Nissan Patrols. Both are in rough shape, one has the hardtop, the other does not, but has a roll bar. They are behind a fence, and I dont have any access to them yet, plan to call the owner and find out if they are for sale, and exact condition. Do you think these would be good builders? I know a lot about Jeeps, but this is all Greek to me. I can hopefully get em cheap cause the owner is selling a lot of stuff off the property currently...

Can someone let me know what these vehicles may come with driveline wise? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks
Andrew

My server won't let me access it directly for you, but try this link. groups.msn.com/ NissanPatrolClubAlbuquerque. If that no worky then search for the Nissan Patrol Club in Albuquerque New Mexico and visit their website. Most all the patrol experts are there.
All I know about them really is they stopped importing them to the US in 1969? and parts are scarce. The axles are fairly stout but this wouldn't make a great daily driver or hard core 4wheeler due to scarcity of parts, i'm sure.
I've seen them for sale pretty cheap, but then again most Patrols are in awful shape. If it was me i'd love to have one to restore!

Hey there...

Another idea where to get some opinions...

www.nissan4wheelers.com has several very active folks with Patrols. Datz is running a modified rig and I believe it is Fudd that very plugged into restoring Patrols.

Two Patrols like that is a rare find. If it doesn't work out for you to acquire them, then it's very likely that some other folks will be interested in checking into their status.

Go to www.rmp-o.com and its forum for good Patrol information.

It is very hard to find parts for these if you are wanting to do a full restoration. But if you are just making an offroader, you can swap in pretty much anything you like and it is fairly easy to work with. The axles front and rear are stout, but if you break something, it is easy to swap the axles with easier-to-find stuff. The engine is strong, and produces great low-end torque, but the 3-speed transmission doesn't give you much of a low range to work with. The transfer case is a 2.26:1, so it isn't bad. I use mine for hauling stuff around the property.

Sounds to me like he might be saving them for spare parts for the one he drives.

Parts arent that hard to find. Alot of parts can be interchanged with other vehichles. There is a list on NPCA. What you cant find, RMP&O can get. As far as power, these things basically have tractor motors. Not really any other way to say it. They make 145hp at 2800RPM's, and 235ft-lbs at 1800RPM's. They have massive fans on them that make the motors loud pretty much off idle. Their 3-speed tranny and lack of available lockers are their only short-comings. Axles out of other trucks can easily be swapped in, even though the rear output on the t-case is offset, you CAN run a centered rear diff. As far as transmissions, it cant be that hard to swap one in with a granny gear. There is talk of a swap over in Australia where the Patrols are more common involving an IHC T98. RMP&O, last I heard, was trying to get orders for a 5-speed from Australia. I, personally, am going to try to put a Borg-Warner T-5 into mine.

My buddy Greg has one for sale it's in good shape. The only problem with it has a thrown rod in the motor. I think he only wants like $700 for it.
You can check his Patrol out on his website www.dogwater.net He lives in Vermont so I dunno how far you are from there.
If you are interested in it you can contact him on the webmaster icon on his page.

The weakest links in the Patrols are the rear axle shafts and the wheel cylinders for the brakes. I have owned about 10 Patrols and have done everything from keeping them stock to doing engine swaps, axle swaps, etc. I have a Patrol for sale right now. I am located in the Denver area. It is a 1967 with a Chevy 327" V-8 swap. It has also had a FJ-40 rear axle swapped in. Both of these swaps are advantageous to keeping the Patrol running longer and finding parts easier in the future. The engine and axle are much more common and mods can be found for both. The Patrol has not run in about 20 years (when the original axle broke and it was parked), so it will need a full fluid change and tune-up before starting it. Engine turns easily by hand. Includes an extra 4 barrel carb. Since it was parked for 20 years, the rust on the Patrol is VERY minimal. It is just surface rust on the roof because of the tree it was under. Photos can be sent to anyone who is interested. I am asking $1,400. I hold a clear title to this Patrol. Can deliver within Metro Denver. Contact jeepcj_6@yahoo.com for more info.

Thanks for all the input guys..I really appreciate it. He called the other day and it sounds like he is willing to sell...but I just picked up a military flatfender that I am now working on. If anyone is interested in them I can post some info on how to get a hold of him. Not sure what shape they are in, I told him thanks, but no longer in need. Thanks again guys!
