Well I know I am asking for abuse here, a newbie Scout guy asking Samauri questions, but maybe someone can help. I am thinking about using some rear samauri springs on a camping trailer, and I am wondering what the typical empty weight is on the rear, what the max rear weight is, and what the stock spring rate is. I can measure the arc of the springs at the junkyard, and it looks close to what I want, but I am wondering what they typicially support. The trailer will have about 1500 lbs on the axle.
Thanks

well I do believe curb weight is around 1965# and gross is 2980#
on the vehicle itself could be off a little take 1/2 the gross say 1490 on the rear springs ? and I have no Fawkin clue on the spring rate:confused:

First of all, Samurai is spelled Samurai, not samauri. :D

I have no clue what the spring rate is, but the weight of the rear of a convertible Samurai is light enough that my friend and I together have picked the back end of his Samurai completely off the ground.

We built a 1/2-Samurai trailer and used the stock rear springs on it, which seemed to be about the right spring rate for miscellaneous camping gear, but definitely not enough to carry any substantial weight. I think for a 1500lb. trailer, you would want heavier-duty springs than the Samurai's. You could add more leaves to the Samurai spring pack.

I took my sammi out to the truck scales last year and weighed it. With all of my mods and 33's it weighed in at 2350 lbs.:D

Thanks for the reply's guys, it looks like the Samuari springs will be a little light for my application, I just found downsized Cherokee, I think that rear weight will be about right.

Well I can tell you stock springs are less than 165 lbs, that's the spring rate on 3" National's
