Alright, you Rover menutia geeks...I am calling on your powers.

I need some important dates in Land Rover history. First Range Rover, First this, first that, last this or that, etc...

Anything LR related is fair game. Anything LR related that has specific relevance to Ireland will get you bonus points and a free copy of my 2006 Ireland calendar.

Accurate documentation will get you uber-bonus points.

I'll post links to proofs shortly.

Well here are the important dates for the best Land-Rover models built.

The SIII Stage 1 with 3.9L ISUZU 4BD1 diesel was released in 1982 and sold until 1984 (in Australia only). This was identical to the Stage 1 V8, except it had 1:1 high range transfer gears in the LT95 and a BETTER ENGINE.

This was then replaced in 1984 by the 110 County wagon with the same drivetrain. In mid 1985 the LT85 replaced the LT95, and about this time the 120 (no not a typo) utility was introduced. These models were made until 1990.

The first Perentie models were produced for the OZ army in about 1984/5 with the 4BDI(T)/LT95 combo (but with a "strengthened" T-case). The army requested a new batch of 1500 perenties in 1995-98 and the rover factory in OZ had to retool to make new LT95's (which they had stopped making 10 years previously).

The Series II replaced the SI in 1958, and then in 1961 when the 2.25D engine superseded the 2.0D the Series IIA was introduced, which ran until 1971 when the SIII was introduced.

The first test drive of the first GM 6.2L diesel powered 1970 IIa 88 occured on Feb 25th 2002. :flipoff2:

Seriously do you have any of Taylors books?
I have the ones regarding the Series vehicles and they list tons of dates and specs. Are you looking for anything particular?

Yeah, I have a lot of good books, but they're all still packed away. I haven't seen a good timeline of Rover history, and was hoping for some SIGNIFICANT dates (not when the LT-95 was canned, etc.... :D ).

Keep 'em coming.

I finally, finally, after trying for 4 months, begging, pleading, wheelin and dealing, found some sucka to buy my Disco.

Thank christ.

To all you guys that own LR's, more power to you, but damn, I owned the biggest piece of crap on the planet. I hope that it wasn't the 'norm' for Land Rovers and it was a very unusual exception, but it was in the shop longer than I drove it. Thank god it was under warranty or I'd would have been paying more in repair bills than the thing was worth.

Good luck...

I'm out... :D

Operator error? :flipoff2:

I wish. :flipoff2:

The first couple of months I had it, it took me a period of adjustment to get used too, but then I started having all sorts of fawking problems with it and probably the last 6 months that I had it, it was in the shop 4.

That's unfortunate too. Now I hate the thing and had to keep the smirk off my face when someone actually gave me a cashiers check for it, plus the 'bad taste' left in my mouth about LR's.

Like I said, for you that have one, more power to ya. I'm sure they're good. For me, they're only good for target practice or driving off a cliff. :(

Alot of it was electrical bullshit. Suddenly the windshield wipers would turn on, I kept shorting out fuses to a rear taillight, radio would stop working then just come back on....just a bunch of shit.

Sucked

It is not uncommon for the Land Rover marque to reject its new host. Different methods can be applied by any Land Rover to determine your worthyness to own or drive one. As it shows its weaknesses it uncovers yours. No need to be ashamed at the rejection. Time will heal your wounds. But it does not help your situation to dwell on the past, move on.

So go back to the Jeep forum and leave us be.

i find it funny that people can become so distraught with such small things - it's a shame to think how fickle the average american, oh, excuse me - consumer - actually is these days.
