I'm looking at the Griffin universals available in Summit. the only thing holding me back is this issue. Is there a way to field repair one?

two part epoxy, silver solder will probably stick, or you could easily crimp the offending tube shut. yeah you can fix em if required. heck I imagine bubble gum would still work too.

Silver solder won't work on aluminum but something like alumiloy or another low temp aluminum "solder" with the correct flux would work, some are hollow with a flux core and that would be a bit more convenient to carry on the trail.
And don't forget the propane torch.

So where are good places to find that?
Welding shop? Any mail order sources?

Griffin is the best for the money. I suggest the 1.25" core. It keeps my big block cool enough. There is some epoxy that works extremely well to repair it. I don't know the name of it. I took out 75% of the first row with my fan, pinched off all the leaky tubes and drove it home. It even ran cool with all that damage.

I have heard good things about Howe radiators, though I don't run one myself so its all heresay. They are priced competitively w/ griffin and they have a website. search for Howe racing.

Any welding supplier should have it or can get it .
All-State #55 fluxless aluminum solder is one that I dug up or one of these, #31 aluminum brazing and Sealcor aluminum gas rod with flux core.
I am not sure on the melting point of the last two or if a propane torch would do it, but you supplier should have that info.

a friend of mine put a hole in his aluminum radiator, not in the fins but in the main part. i patched it for him with jb weld. that was 2 years ago and the radiator is now in another vehicle.

Another option would be a special 2 part epoxy that is used to repair aluminum fidge evaporators.
You mix the two parts togeather and it's red, apply then heat with a propane torch it turns gold and gets very hard. This stuff works great under pressure and heat only makes it stronger.
I can't for the life of me remember what it's called but you can find it at most appliance repair/parts shops.
