Working on a scout II D44 rear. Slapped in a minispool this weekend and when I slide the passengers axle shaft in and bolt town the retainer plate it gets very tight and I have to use a bar to spin the axleshaft. Only thing I can figure is the shaft is hitting the middle of the minispool maybe? I swapped shafts from side to side and same result.

If I leave the passengers out I can spin the drivers easy. What to do here? Grind some off the end of the shaft? Have the alxe bearing pressed back a hare?

I should have just welded the darn thing, but thought I would be fancy and get the mini.... :shaking:

Its possible you might have a bent housing or bent shaft. If you really feel that the shaft is bottoming out on the center pin then gring a little off of the end of the shaft.

Everything worked fine without the minispool in there.

It was just my guess since the minispool does not have as much room in the middle (has the rectangular blocls around the center pin) that the axle might be bottoming out to soon.

Does the shaft slide right in along with the bearing and seal or do you have to somewhat force in the shaft? If the sahft doesn't slide right in includeing the bearing and seal than the housing is bent. Otherwise it sounds like the shaft is bottoming on the block in the minispool. Grind down the end of the shaft to make it work.
