I wouldn't try this at all. You wouldn't get any flex. If you are dumb enough to use tubing it would crush in a hard turn. I understand that the older jeeps, fords and chevy's used blocks in the front. If it is a good idea why did they quit using them? If anyone wants to try this go ahead then let us know what happens.

Some of us are that clueless! At least I don't ask what points are...:flipoff2:

But I'm learning as fast as I tear into my rig though. It's not my daily driver anymore so I have the opportunity to tear it apart now. I haven't posted much here because a lot of the questions I have are newbie type questions. But I figure you guys have at least a 25 yr head start on me.:D

I just turned 40 yrs old and I finally found a hobby that's worth the time and effort learning about it. I'm currently reading up on setting up gears for my axles. Shouldn't be too hard, as I've been a mechanical inspector so the measuring part will be easy. Now I'm looking for some experienced advice to make it easier...got any? And NO, I'm not gonna pay someone to do it for me...:flipoff2:

And I quote directly from that same thread:

>well blocks seem to be the easiest way to get lift plus lift
>springs cost a lot of money. i do wish to use them in the front. i
>would have to weld them to the axle right? ALSO, WHAT IS AXLE
>WRAP?

I think axel rap must be the theme music to that '80s movie with Mr. Foley? ROFLMFAO.... :rainbow: :rasta:

Some big rigs use blocks on their axles, but that's a bit different from when Billy-Bob wants to stick some tubing under his springs to "mek it moh taller!"...geez!

Thanks, I needed a good laugh.

I don't want these kind of posts here, as they almost always lead to cross board bashing. So far it looks like everyone is being good, but lets keep this in check folks.

Thanks.

I used Bodark (bois'd arc) on mine. Ruined the teeth on two handsaws milling them to specs.

The guy is smart enough to ask first and not just weld up some blocks and call it good. With the majority of responses telling him not to do it he probably won't.
It was strange that he didn't know what the centering pin was.Hopefully he'll take a little more time to learn what he's working with before he starts.

We have dumb folks like that here, too. But we don't treat them near as kind as the BB guys do. Kinda the diff between the Biker bar and the IOOF club.

(and if I have to explain IOOF, I'll just have to kick your ass first.) :flipoff2:
