I am planning on putting a 360 into the CJ soon and am trying to figure costs and how to do each thing before I start, so the jeep isn't down to long.
My questions is exhaust, I want to run manifolds, with true dual exhaust(no Y pipe) that exits in the rear?
How exactly is this routed? The driver side can be the same as my 258 exhaust, but what about passengers? Do you exit it next to the gas tank? not much room?
please post pics if possible ( or links)
thanks

On my 65 I keep the fender well headers on the 351w:barf: Other then that I have no idea how to run it on an early 5. When I had it all apart I tried a bunch of setups, Mustang II manifolds, truck, mustang HO headers, ect. Nothing would fit between the frame rails and t-case. Damn narrow frame. I guess that's why they run the factory exhaust out the fender well.
I know a few of my friends have put duals on their 76+ cj5s. I think you can fit it on either side of the gas tank.

To do true dual exhaust on a 5 you need to run it either before the gas tank or exit right before the gas tank thru the leaf. I had dual glasspacks on my CJ for a long time then when I went to the v8 I switched to single with a y pipe routed on the passenger side.
The fuel lines are on the drivers side.

Do you have in-frame headers?
Since my frame is sort of the same as yours, I thought I could chime in here.
Belive it or not I bought a almost perfect fitting full exhasut with inside the frame headers from JCWhitney.
It came with full length exhast and headers with glasspacks.
I wasnt to keen on the glass packs but The whole thing was bolt on and required a slight hammer bend near the tcase and a couple of dents in the header for the steering shaft.
It took less than 3 hours to install and I have had it on for 4 years with no regrets except the glass packs. I went with flowmasters a few years later.
Cheap too, I paid like $230 somthing for it all. If your doing a AMC v8 it will all bolt up like mine did.
