: Source for Checker Plate?

I did a search and couldn't turn up anything...

I was wondering if anyone had a decent supplier in the states for 5 bar tread plate. I saw a damn Nissan Frontier with a topper yesterday covered in it so I know someone must have it over here.

Any one?

EDIT:

I need it for Project Big:ass. We are removing the door panels and etc... I could use several full size sheets of 1/8".

If you find it, it will be expensive and shipping will be more. Give up and use diamond plate.

Yeah, that's what I am finding. I have spoken to a few suppliers so far and nothing.

Look for the FedEx guy tomorrow CB... :)

I can get sheets of 1/4" local. But the hassle of shipping does not excite me. 20% plus handling to the truck depot.

I had a steel supplier back in Seattle that found a supplier in BC. They would order it for me. A 5'x16'x1/4" was going to cost me around 600$

Hmm... JP, give me a price per sheet. You know me, I love wasting money. :flipoff2:

Thanks Pete, let me see what JP has.

 :shaking:
Form over function? Seems like a waste of $ just to look slightly better...

Paul, theres a lot to be said for "looking cool." :flipoff2: Seriously, I really like the look of the 5 bar treadplate. Diamond plate just looks cheesy too me. If I can get some 5 bar and it's a bit more it would be worth it for me.

I don't really concern myself with looking cool-wouldn't matter, it would take more than five-bar checker plate for me to be as cool as Pendy :flipoff2:

I'm thinking three yellow optimas, some jumper cables and cool sunglasses would get you close... :D

They're not close to you but they have 5-bar. I think 1/8" is running $400-$500 a sheet.

No dood, the five bar is structurally stronger then 1 bar. The design of the bars serves to counter act tension and compression forces applied to the edge of the sheet. They also have a slight impact on torsional stability but its so negligible as to not really be worth mentioning.

Oh and I got a bridge for sale too :flipoff2:

afi, could you throw them on a wood palete and shrink wrap them down for me? If so, how much do you have and what do you want for it? I can arrange the pickup from your place.

jp, how would you package it? box, palette or 1x1 nail together open'esk crate? What do you figure a 5x10 sheet weighs?

shane, their number has been busy since yesterday...WTF? Must be the damn Asian's buying up our steel. :P

JP, what about 1/8" thick? The 1/4" is what I want for the hood but on the rest I think 1/8" would fit the bill.

Thanks for looking into this for me.

I bought 2 sheets a few years ago from dap in vermont- I think they were only $120 for the pair. They didn't stock them but were able to get them from bearmach in england and put them in their container for no charge.

I need some five bar as well...somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 ft wide x 6' long. Thicknesses can be 1/8" or less. I'll give Industrial Metal a call to see if they have some. If anyone else has some laying around, please let me know.

I am not in Center yet. But I do need to go out there for a visit shortly. Do you want me to bring you some out. We will have the trailer so it can happen. I can trade for the front Salisbury axle/ :grinpimp: /

RR I would just ship it as is, a few scratches would add character!

JP, thanks but the 1/4" is too thick for what I am doing.

Thats ok it can wait till later this fall. I figure 5 sheet = 1 frt sals :flipoff2:

I am not sure, but I might agree with Jason it might be too thick, but you can get the 1/8 also right?
