Yes, I have searched :flipoff2: and there is nothing recent about what adpater Timm is doing these days. I have spoken to him in the past when I was in Dubai and he was doing the adapter for the NP435 but I had heard recently that he is only doing it for the GM NV4500. As I am just in the thinking stages now and will be too skint after finishing the portals/tires/t-case/soft top mods to move on an engine swap for some time, I don't want to get on to him unless nobody here knows the answer.

And while you're at it.... does anyone know whether the output shaft on the GM NV3500 is the same spline count and length as the GM NV4500?

What can I say, Timm likes Chevy engines and doesn't like small block ford engines.

He installed a Ford 302 into my LR in June of 1999. I don't know if mine was the last Ford small block he installed or not but he pushes people into Chevy small blocks. Maybe you can get away with a bell housing adapter to go from the engine of your choice to the GM NV4500?

I think he is still doing both. The one above is the NV4500. Given the option, I would go with that. Although I would sugest buying the adapter before the transmission, taht way you know which variant to buy (ie dodge/chevy/2wd/4wd ect)

Thanks guys. The NV4500 is just fine - I'm fairly certain now that the output shaft from the NV3500 and 4500 are the same and as externally the two cases are the same, I'm hoping they will both work with the adapter. I'm thinking a late model 4.3 L Vortec. I know, not very ambitious but there seem to be quite a few 4.3 / NV3500 combos availabel for next to nowt and @ 200 horses is plenty for the Tonka. I'm imaging that the extra inches with the V6 will make the swap a slightly less tight fit. Thank for the info - I'll get on to Timm towards the end of the season and see what's what.

Cheers,
