What is the best solution? I have a '92 Chevy NV4500 and a '93 bellhousing. I know these trannies came with both internal and external slaves... I'd like to keep my stock master cylinder.
Which design works best and why?
Which year slave cylinder should I ask the parts monkey for to get which design?
Thanks,
Jake

I believe it was 95 or 96 that they went to internal.
I have a external type release from a 93 that I will be using on my 93 GM NV4500.

Are the external slaves preferable? Will an external slave work on my '93 bellhousing?

Yeah if it's a late 92 (93 mostly) - 94 BH, then it will have come stock with an external slave type release (except for the big P 30 type trucks which had mechanical linkage). The slave mounts to the lower passenger side of the BH.
The external slave is preferable in that all leaks will be external, and more easily repaired, without dropping the tranny.
