Have any of you replaced the factory rear bumper / crossmember? If so, can you give me some details on what you did or what you recommend? Do you have any pics?

Mine looks like the PO attached a hook to the middle of it and yanked it out about 2 inches. It has bothered me for years and now I am finally going to get around to fixing it. I want to cut it off and replace it with some new channel or box tube. I would like to extend the rear bumper back a few inches so I can move my shackle hangers back as well.

I replaced the bumper, bumpersupport, and shackle support plates on my 1980 Bj40. You can see pics of how i did it on my "webphoto" page, email me if you want to know anything more. The pics are in the "frame off resto of my bj40" folder.
