i had to remove the throttle body on my 22RE. how horrible is it to put it back on using some type of gasoline-resistant silicone product? the auto parts place doesn't sell that gasket individually. thanks in advance

Throttle body ain't supposed to ever see gas... Use whatever you want. That said, I've always used gaskets for intakes, but I bet some ultra silly cone will work fine... Just be sure to use it sparingly - thin film only, immediate torque.

Just make sure it is really clean--I use non-chlorinated brake clean and a clean paper towel. You can use a wetstone to make sure it is smooth as well. Don't laugh, that is what is done for dirtbike/motorcycle engine cases.

You can buy gasket material from the auto parts store. Its usually sold in small quantities. Just read the package to make sure it is what you need. ie. gasoline resistant, oil resistant.

Whenever I have an application like that, I use high-tack-sealant. It comes in a small can with a brush attached to the lid. It is very sticky so it will hold the gasket in place and it will also provide a nice thin layer of liquid gasket.
