: D90--no cage--no limiter--suicide?
evilfij 06-09-2005, 09:13 PM My wife thinks I am going to kill myself.
I think she is nuts and I will be thrown from the truck and only horribly maimed--at worst. Now that I am gainfully employed this is a problem for her.
Opinions? :flipoff2:
Do you think leaving the little front part on will help any? Or maybe just tying it into a hoop?
Buckon37s 06-09-2005, 10:24 PM huh?
SeaRover 06-09-2005, 10:39 PM show her some pics of 50's era willys jeeps with no cage and the the windshield folded down (no cage? no a-pillar!) just think of all the protection you have in the 90 :*)
DiscoDino 06-10-2005, 07:38 AM I've seen Defenders' roofs collapsing - I'd put a cage if I were you...I have a cage in both the Disco and the 90...my mum's Volvo is a cage, but that's a different issue...
dmarch 06-10-2005, 08:51 AM :blender:
Wear a bike helmet.
I have a cage in both the Disco and the 90...
Dino, where'd you get the Disco cage? SD? Custom fab?
jabber 06-10-2005, 10:21 AM Honestly... The cage on the POEs wouldn't do a damn thing anyhow! LR just put the front cage on for "some" protection.
The rear mounts of the front cage only bolt to the aluminum hard top.
If anything, I'd maybe go with a full custom cage (or at least something covering the driver and passenger). That way you can do the hard top in the winter and a hoopset and canvas in the summer!!! If you go with the ST roll cage you'd have to take it off if you wanted to put the hard top on.

Disco cage is custom made by yours truely (PBB4x4 was a great source of inspiration :flipoff2: )...check it out here http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=362450
The Defender cages that came stock work GREAT for low-medium speed safety...a buddy with a NAS 90 TD5 rolled a month ago and he walked away...this is after a fast roll in the dunes...

She will probably sue for divorce and gain 50% of your wealth if you continue along this road.
Get someone to photojob together some images of her and the milkman so you can cover your a$$ :flipoff2:

Nice, but the harnesses are mounted to the wheel wells? Um, I think thats gonna put some crazy stresses on you in a roll. You need them mounted straight back and to a bar that is 4-6"s below your shoulder blades. This is to combat compression injuries to the spine, and protect you collar bones that are gonna go "snap" if you roll it.
Other then that its a sweet looking cage, a good amount of triangulation and nice flow.
But I would spend the extra 20 minutes and mount the belts in the proper way. :flipoff2:
Btw SCSL,
there are plenty of local guys that can build a nice cage for you. I could help you out, but im a little north in Boulder. I have a buddie down at Ft Carson who's got the fab skillz to help you out. I can get you in contact if you want.
aloharover 06-10-2005, 05:32 PM Yeah, no nodes. But it works. :flipoff2:

I know - I don't live in the same country as the Disco...I did not have time to finish, but the Hor bar is WIP...The cage is mounted throught the body to the chassis, so for now, the harness is 80% there, but it'll be amended...
