i was wondering if anybody has even tried doing what i was thinking about today... since a ford dana 60 has a high pinion instead of the chevy low, and the ford is reversed rotation... could i take a ford dana 60 to an axle guy and have him take out the axle tubes and install new ones, or if the old ones are good in a chevy passenger side type? could i take a ford axle and make it work switching the differential to the passanger side???
thanks

it will take some customizing cause chevy sping perch is part of the housing. so custom length inners and a longer short tube.

so fords dont have their spring perches on the side of the differntial? why couldnt i just weld on new ones?
i wouldnt really need new tubes, unless the other ones were screwed up, i propable would want to change them anyway... but i would not need to get custom shafts as long as i make sure the new tubes are the same length as the old ford ones right? just swap the shafts over like the axle tubes... am i right?
i figured i could probably find a dana 60 out of a ford easier then a chevy, plus i get the high pinion to boot :smokin:

yeah good one huh?!? to bad im a scout owner and have no money to do that full width axle some time soon. i just figured i might just be able to find one really cheap one day and still able to do something with it... and i already have a chevy 205 already done, i have too much money into that setup to go with a ford 205...
i will be looking for chevy and dodge axles but if worst comes to worst i now know i can do that if neccassary

??? I've seen Ford 205's sell for $50. Swap the input shafts and it bolt right up.

Yes, you can make a Ford 60 passenger side drop that way, but wouldn't it be easier to just use a Chevy axle?
