Well....I have been sanding the old decal off the sides of the Scout all friggen week. Got tired of f'ing around with it an bought some aircraft stipper on Saturday. First, that stuff is AWESOME, secondly, please wear PPE when using it! I got a face full of mist when the winds changed direction on me, but I saw what was gonna happen, and closed my eyes and held my breath. Good thing I had the hose handy cause that sh!t burns. Anyway the sides are stripped and sanded. Worked on my steering and the brakes a little and found a auto paint supply store that was fairly reasonable on some filler primer. I need to swing by some time this week and pick it up.

Sunday I sanded the hood and started to tape off the non removables, and put a hole in my windshield cowl  fawker was patched with bondo, and I put my knee through it. Called it a day and went swimming.

Lets hear what you did.

Then I looked at the scout and drank some beer.

I hate beer....it makes me thirsty....

Just came in from painting.

This weekend I fabbed up my rear traction bar...
Followed Billavista's suggestion & extended some tractor link/heims.
Also made a new crossmember for the mini shackle & axle mounts.

Pix to come.

Talked to my local Scout guy, got some SII spring hangars to weld onto my S80, looked up some threads on jackstands, worked on a paintball gun, went to the lake and put in the rest of the pier, thought about the Scout...

Wanted to get this painted..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2005MemorialDayRepairs/DCP_0010_001.sized.jpg

But went to a County Fair n' Lewis & Clark thing on Saturday.. and it rained all day Sunday, so I was stuck on in-door projects.

Started by making some shock mounts to attach to my front axle, after shearing a bolt over Memorial Day.

4" x .250" plate, plus a 2.75" hole-saw, and a bandsaw..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2005MemorialDayRepairs/DCP_0006_002.sized.jpg

Drill a pair of holes, one front, one back, and you have some double-shock mounts for the front (or rear) axle.

C-clamp and angle gives enough tension to hold things in place while I measure and mark for the new upper mount.

Still not certain where the reservoir should go..

I'm going to weld some 3x2 angle to the upright so it'll come out and down to provide a third point for the upper shock bolt, putting it in double shear (mount on either side of the rod-end) along with having the bolt pass through both sides of the 1.5x1.5x 3/16 upright.

The 7100 body is a little longer than the 5100.

The 5100s are moving to the rear. more of that 4" plate is getting drilled to bolt to the left-over threads from the rear U-bolts. I'll then weld some tabs to it for the shock mounts.

Then the bed gets cut outboard of the frame and the shocks will come up through the cargo area. More cage work ahead.. I'll probably tie the shock mounts into the B-hoop.

New valves for the 7100s should be here tomorrow. If that goes well, and I get bored before the next race, I might try tearing down the 5100s and stiffening them up, too, especially since they'll be angled to get enough wheel travel out of the 14" travel shocks.

Sometime this week I'll fire up the trail rig, put air in the tires, and load it up for this coming weekend's trip. Poor thing gets neglected. :D

I've been expanding my shop(basically converting a poll barn next to my shop into another shop so I'll have twice the space). Been working on it from time to time during the past week. Got the far wall nailed off, spackled, and painted. Doors come next.

This week after having a prefab cage not fit in a customers Scout I got tired of being limited to what I can fabricate due to the tools I have so I pulled out the plastic and bought this
http://www.xtremecrawlers.com/catalog/images/tools/benders_and_accessories/super_105.jpg

Be here in about a week. I got three dies with it along with BendTech EZ3D. Then I went to TrickTools and ordered some protractors, digital angle finder, and some PipeMasters. Looking forward to bending some tube the easy way.

Spent the whole weekend getting ready for OBDR. The majority was spent building a roof top box for my Yakima rack, long an narrow for all the odd gear I have kicking around the inside. Did spend sometime shopping for the trip, got my last bit of gear and even packed a bit. Four days to go, then I am on my way.

But I did get my OBA (http://www.justinternationals.org/Binder-Bench/showthread.php?t=4629) plumbed up!!

You dont learn do you?

:D I'm going to give it a try once more.

I want it to look nice for at least ONE show, and I don't have any races between now and BinderBash. :D

..and I picked up a stick of tube to see about making some bumpers and/or full length "rub rails" aka "nerf[ing] bars"

I need to try and acquire a couple more sets of quarters over the summer, though..

Brian looks like you need a bigger trailer or smaller trailering tires.

Tom how about using that nice Quarter pannel for a mould and start making your own since your going to go through them like that :grinpimp:

Your cage looks goofy as fawk with the top on, but then mine looks goofy with the top off. I built my cage as tall as I could but still be able to fit under the hard top, and the A hoop sticks above the windshield. Linky (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=361441[/url)

ya thanks for the props with the top on. :flipoff2: i know its looks better with it off but i wanted to try it. i dont have the window for it yet and maybe it will look better with it on. i didnt build the cage and the previous owner built it w/o a top or doors in mind, which i had to notch to make it fit. i will most likely only run it when i go mudding. as far as the trailer thats as big as i could find. i just wheel over the fenders. tires stick out about 3-4" or so if i line it up right. but works great for me. :)

cut the top and have it angle down with the top of your cage and it would look a lot better

Worked 20 hours...went to the lake and found my jetski didn't want to run--fuel supply problem....and swapped the rollbar from one Scout to the other.

The ski had run the night before in the driveway, but wouldn't run at the lake. :mad3:

We were actually talking about you out there, and said we should have called you.

We went with Byron and Cathi, and these two idiot 23 year olds that Byron works with.

The boobers were fantastic out there.

Friday i looked at and bought a house. Now I am having doubts as it sits pretty darn close to a ravine and the house is needing a lot of things. The carpet and paint was one thing - BUT the garage is rotting.
$300K may not be a lot to some of you, but for that I want a good garage.

I looked at where i would park my scout in my new house. :D

Built new seat bases with a drawer in them so that the new seats i got would sit at the right level insted of putting me looking at the top of the widsheld frame.

Played with the new plasma cutter for a little while. I broke down and purchased a TD38 after trying to get 2 harbor friehgt models to work. Neither of them had working on/off switches and only one even worked :(

Helped a friend get a new motor in his 4runner
sprayed another coat of primer on the traveller top and sanded some trying to get the paint to stop flakeing (any tips on this would be greatly appreciated but i have been told by a professional body man friend that i just needed to break down and strip all the old paint off)

used the plasma cutter and welder to fix the lawn mower so that i could convince the wife she needed them too :P and hopefully get her on board with buying a model 4 tube bender next to round out the big tools i have been working on buying

Now i just need to paint the cage finish preping and bedlining the back and mount the seats and the Scout is ready to go get the new exhaust bent up

went up to the high lakes in butte meadows, had a freakin blast up there, i was at angles i never thought possible w/ a scout. slippin and sliding the whole way down some steep snow drifts going down into some trees... no dents though.

had to go down a sloping hill, after getting to the top, and starting to slide down to some trees, you either turned to the left and punched it, or go slow and tip over going down hill. what do you think i did? i freaking punched the gas pedal as fast as i could and went straight into a huge mound of snow and caught some air going over it at about 20 mph's, that was some scary shit.
