: tick tick (tranny noise)

a rythmic ticking from the trans that only stops when the cluch is depresssed could ony be the throw out bearing right???....also for you that think this is a newb question, if i had a tech question why in the fuck would i want to put it on a board full of newbs who dont know what the hell there talkin about?? :flipoff2: .......thanks

Wrong. Could be any number of things inside the tranny, and most likely not the TO bearing. Probly the input bearing.

Oh, and this belongs in noob... Big time :flipoff2:

Well, you can run it till it becomes painfully obvious where the problem is or you could become proactive and pull it now while the damage will be at it's lowest point. Either way, it's not going to fix itself. Broken teeth, bad bearing's, broken front retainer, whatever, you won't find it until you knock it down. It's your rig and your money and they are both about to test your threshhold of pain. Let us know what you find.

I vote for throwout bearing. Usually they make a whirring noise though unless they are really bad.

What vehicle are we working on again?

If your mechanically inclined it might be easy to change the clutch and consider it preventative maintenance. If you do that, go with LUK for stock replacement. They are great IMHO.
