Hi everyone,
I am posting this for a friend who owns a 1995 Dodge 1500 4x4....
---
I think the rear end on my Dodge has burnt up. I pulled it apart and the ring gear + pinion gear seem to be ok however the limited slip is locked up totally. I just bought the truck from a young kid and I am pretty sure he beat the hell out of it and didn't ever check the fluids. I was driving home from the purchase [ouch] and the truck started to bogg badly in the rear nd, then smoke, then heat, then pop pop...etc you get the picture.
I am trying to decide if I should just swap out the entire axle assemble, replace the limited slip unit or just eliminate the limited slip by installing a TruTrac or the like.
If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. I will check back with my friend RedRhino and see if anyone has responded.
Thank you,
Steve T.
