Can someone give me a link or explain (tried the search) what is the "best" way to set up a scout front D44. (I know newbie question)

I have one and I think I have figured out how to make it fit on one of my rovers and at this point I want to A) make sure there is nothing wrong with it that would make it unsuitable as a starting point (does not look bent) and B) figure out the best way to build it up.

Right now it has warn hubs and thats it. I am looking at warn shafts maybe with CTMs. Then a simple truss and a dif cover cage and I am ready to roll.

Anyone got a good pic of a truss set up that is particularly well thought out? Any better inner axle/u joint options? Are the CTMs required for my application? What would be in there stock (lets say it is out of 77 SII).

Also what is a good brake set up? Can I get the stock stuff still or no? Is the stock stuff any good?

It would have to stand up to ~36x12.50 at most but the truck will be ~5000lbs

The truss is not needed. I would do the Warn/Dutchmann shafts and CTMs. I would convert it to high steer and that would get you the internal style hubs. and then run it. The brakes will be fine.

I won't bend/twist it w/o a truss?

okey doke, that makes life easier.

Thanks OldScout (and muskyman for the email)

I havn't had the money for quality shafts as of yet. I can, however, get stock shafts for pennies. I just keep extra shafts, all the way around, and a spare set of hubs.

Obviously whatever you put into your dif matters as well. I run open in front with 4:10's. That means the pressure is off of everything. I have a trac lock that I'm going to throw in front, but that should still have enough give.

Oh, and I try to drive within my limits.
