: Free length of EB lift coils?

Did you guys with EB lift coils measure the free length of the coils before you installed them? If you did can you tell me what coils you have and what the free length is?

The dirty one is a Skyjacker 4" for a Bronco II and the the new one is a 3.5" duff EB coil that I'm currently using. I've got a solid 6" of lift out of it with the 302, and now that it's broke in.

I think that may be the one that I need then. My Skyjacker 6" is 19" long. I need something with a better spring rate, I'm sick of having no compression. Do you have a picture of the EB coil spring retainer?

I can get one for you later....it's very simple, just 2 bolts about 2 inches apart that hold a plate down.

I'm not sure how the spring rate of a solid axle coil compares to TTB. You might actually hurt more than you help, but I doubt it.

Also check out a recent thread about the best EB coil....duffs are the cheapest, but but BC bronco's are appearantly a little better. $50 more though.

And Paul, just to let you in on a little secret, the problem with compression isn't your coil....IT's......

Damn that's a real bag of bones you've got there!

Seriously though when I changed to the Skyjacker coils from the Superlift 6" coils there was a noticable improvement. I was able to get a couple more inches of compression and droop for C$180. If I can get similar results from the EB coils for similar money I will be happy. Right now I want to spend my fabricating time and money on the Willys(well, as soon as I am able to).

My 3.5" BC coils were 20 3/4" before install.

Paul it is going to take some rework of the lower coil mounts to use the EB coil on a TTB. The EB coils are quite a bit bigger in diameter at the lower side. Plus I don't really think it is going to solve much. Kinda like putting bandaid on a gunshot wound. Do you still have your swaybars on with disconnects or did you take them all the way off? If you don't have sways and this is your daily I wouldn't even consider the EB coils as I think your body roll is going to be horrendous with softer EB coils. My .02 anyways. O yea I got a set of 3.5 Wild Horse coils waiting to go on my Sploder and they measure 20.5" relaxed

Just measured my duff coil again tonight. It's been installed for almost a year.

It looks longer. Am I seeing things?

I think the pictures may be a bit decieving, but I think they both are about 21.5". I'd certainly say they haven't sagged one bit. They did sag a bit when installed, but I think a better term would be "broke in". They were definately flexing better after they were used for a bit.

BTW, do you still want a pic of the coil mount? It was pouring down rain last night when I had all this apart, so I didn't take a picture.

Are you still going wheelin this weekend?

Do you know what the rate is (lbs-in)on those EB coils? (The lower rate, beings it looks like a variable rate).
I didn't see it in that link.
