Those are really nice, but why? I watched the salesman at Man it ain't Free stringing this guy that had just bought his 40 along on how he was gonna need to spend $20K in their shop to have a nice Cruiser. "Now what you'll want to do is..., and then we'll have to..., and this will cost but it'll be worth it because..." And of course they were going to sdo all the work for him. When we get outside my bud mentions to the guy that all tha tisn't really necessary and he should try to do the work himself, if he needs some help we'd help him out and he gets all shitty. What do you guys know? I don't even know you why would you help me? Well duh, you own a Cruiser and you need help learning to work on it.:p I have since stopped going to Man it ain't free, Spectre may be expensive but at least Marv loves Landcruisers in every form even though I still get the  when he sees mine.:D

You have to ask several questions...

Who would buy either one of these?

Are there auto buyers looking at ebay that would buy these?

Is $110,000 a deal auction for either? (and should they have been offered separate?)

I just saw a 1986 Pinzgauer that was first offered in the US for $145,000. Arnold Schwarzernegger (sp?) bought it, then sold it to a exporter cruiser head for $70K (plus, minus-minus) who he has resold to Japan. So there may be a dozen people on earth who would buy these, and would any of those guys actually buy from a no name on ebay?

My only two comments,
for $110K I should see a brand new master and no wire nuts under the hood on the hard top (the master reservoirs are faded orange) and the rats nest of wiring on the soft top cowl looks professional!

My best advice to the owner, insurance claim baby.....

I don't know he is a Vietnam vet and he is ill.... maybe we can all go in together and buy them?

Look it's easy, we need 730 people to donate $151 each. This will give each person the use of one cruiser every day for a year... sound good?

Ok then, I'll hold the money until we have it all. So send your checks and moneys orders to me.

What I see is a guy that can't be all bad he owns two Cruisers but when he went to modify them he fell in with the wrong crowd (BTB) and got snookered on mods.:D

I wonder if they are offering easy terms like $1.00 down and $10.00 a month over the next 400 years.

I say if you've got over $100,000 to burn on your Cruiser then all the more power to you.
Definately a new extreme.
He must really love Cruisers.

I had a friend that went to their shop.He had just purchased a 77 FJ40 for $3,200. He spent $14,000 on parts & then had them install all the stuff . Don't know what the install cost was, but he did all this in 2 weeks!! Must be rough to have the $$$ to spend like this. Now he has way over $50,000 in his cruiser:eek: Oh, to have $$$.

they say he 4x4ed w/ it? i think that's the dumbest thing i ever heard of someone doin.... if ur gonna blow that much money on a truck, u cruise with it on pavement and take it to shows.... if i owned it (never would cuz i find it a waste of money) it'd sit in a show room, i'd take it out on sundays :), and never drive it in wet weather....

my thoughts...

First of all, I've heard the "ill Vietnam vet" song and dance before from salesmen. If he truly is a vet and he's having health problems, my heart goes out to him, but notice it's not the vet selling it, it's someone else. That makes me wonder....

As for the Cruisers, this is not the first $100,000+ FJ40 I've seen coming out of BTB, remember the Ferrari red one that was for sale on the Specter list a few years ago? $125,000 bones?
It makes me laugh, what was the profit margin on those things? I mean, how do you even keep a straight face when you tell the customer that the Cruiser that you're charging him $120,000 for a revamped old truck that you have $40,000 in, *tops*? I thought I was a good salesman, but this is beyond any ethical and moral principle I still carry.

I'm not even going to get into what else you could buy for $110,000, like, a fleet of Land Cruisers? Like legally importing an HZJ105 from Saudi Arabia, adding a turbo and ALL the goodies you can think of, and still have money left over to have Butch Lewis build you the FJ40 of your dreams, and maybe a nice FJ55 like Nolen's on the side....jeez.

story is the guy that owns em has serious back problems and can't drive them anymore so a friend is auctioning them off...dude paid $7500 for the paint job on one...why couldn't he just give me the money and i could've taken them to maaco and still had $7300 left for myself?

seriously, just cause he got screwed by his stupidity doesn't mean that he has to try to screw others.

If the guy is truely a Vietnam Vet, shouldn't he be recieving money from the Government? Is he selling them to pay for medical bills or is he just trying to make some serious cash off some idiot with too much money to spend? Nice rigs......too much fawkin money.

sob story 'vietnam vet'

blah blah blah.

The brothers have (had) tons of dough and possible lost their Enron shorts in the market. Thinking that the trucks are liquid, they are trying to off load them. Back pain, vet status, I call BS. They have spent more than $160,000 US on two trucks. Two 25+ year old Japanese 'jeeps'.

they, were morons.

and the work was not that nice. Certainly not concourse restoration by any stretch. And work that could have been done by another 1/2 dozen fabricators (full scale operations) for 1/2 that cost at least.

If you want to invest in a car, buy a Deusy, Bugatti, or OE AC Cobra right, not a cruiser. 99% of anything else is a loss.

Land Crusher-
Drop down gates were on many (but not all) soft top 40's and all swb 45's trucks in the US. While the metal gates are hard to come by (age-rust&damage) fiberglass are readily available from Specter, Gozzard, etc. All OUTER gate hardware is still stocked in the US dealer system (about $120 list price for all). MOST inner hardware is discontinued (chains, bolts for chains etc).

Gates were offered from FJ25's through 10/1984 non US models (from 9/75 up they only use two hinges rather than 3). Gates world wide are discontiued, bye bye....

sob, sigh

if his cruiser with the nice shiny drop down gate is worth 75k, does that make my rusted bent up 45 swb w/ gate worth 35k since the drop down gate is rare? i'd sell my 45 for 35K!

I think they just forgot to mention that the price included the house pictured in the background!
It's funny there's all kinds of people out there who sink thousands of $$$s into the 4bys (and a bit of chrome of course) and expect to get their money back out of em. Never happens!

It's amazing what people think is "value"! $110,000 is what I have in my F350 expedition truck, my diesel 5spd etc. M37, my BJ40, and our "got everything" BJ60. Incredible.
Actually I bought springs and greaseable shackles from BTB. Twice. For a reasonable price. I had no idea they were such crooks till what I've read on the PBB and LC List.
