Okay, T18 wide is in and now with the 196/T18wide/D20 w3.15/5.89s/36" tires combo works GREAT. 4Hi is actually useful and 4LO crawls beautifully. I finally have enough torque at the wheel to crawl at idle/close to idle.

Anyway, I have a few bugs to fix and the one that's bugging me the most right now is a vapor lock issue (I think that's what it is). Once the engine has been running for 30-60 minutes, I can smell fuel and then the engine looses power. If I let it cool it runs great again.

Anyway, I'm running a summit fuel cell with the return vented and the pickup running straight to a carter fuel pump dirrectly under the cell. From there I have rubber fuel lines running down the passenger side (away from the exhuast) then up into a holley fuel pressure regulator and into the carb. The routing in the cab is probably a little high and trapping air so I'm going to re-route it so the carb inlet is the highest point and also reduce the pressure on the fuel regulator but I'm kinda running out of ideas on this.

Anyone got any thoughts?

What is the regulator pressure set to? Is the tank vented adequately?

Tank is vented well enough for venting purposes (not good enough to keep fuel in during a roll but I'm getting to that very soon).

As for the regulator, not honestly sure, Carter can put out up to 6 psi which I'm sure is high for the engine. I turned it in a couple of turns to bring it down a little more, but I don't really know of an accurate way of setting the regulator....

If you smell gas I would think it to be overly rich or flooding. After it sits does it start right up, or do you have to do some magic voodoo ceremony (throttle wide open, choke half on, etc) to get it to start? Did you change anything on the motor? (fuel pump, carb, etc) Enquiring minds want to know.

if I let it sit it starts right up for the most part. As for the choke, engine always runs better with choke out 1/4" for some reason, put it completely off and hit the gas and she'll cut out then backfires. As for the motor, never had a stock fuel pump when I got it so can't comment there and the carb is the stock single barel holley, rebuilt, nothing more....

If it runs better with the choke out, it's probably runnin lean, and therefore hot. Ever had the carb apart? Get a bucket of carb cleaner and a rebuild kit. Pull the carb apart and soak it in the cleaner for a few hours or overnight, then use compressed air to clear it out. I did that and Mine ran a whole lot better, then I put in a Petronix and smoothed out the motor even more. I can get the idle down to under 500 rpm.

Or, if you want some more performance, you can get a weber 32/36 and an adapter plate for the motor you have. I'm told it helps a lot. I'd do it if I was going to keep my 152.
