: 8 lug beadlocks
bigdude 03-02-2002, 04:31 PM I've got my 14 bolt and HP60 ready to go in. Now I need beadlocks. I'm staying full width but need 3.5" backspacing to clear the ford brakes in front. My tires are for a 15" wheel. I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to customs. Does Scott (rockstomper) have 3.5" backspaced beadlocks?
Trying to get this thing rolling and after dropping a lot of $$$ on axles I'm struggling with funds for wheels, and I've heard enough bad sh@t about Stockton that I won't consider them as an option.
1TONTJ 03-02-2002, 04:34 PM Check out Eaton Beadlocks from www.natltire.com
Phil
GRMhick 03-02-2002, 04:38 PM I am pretty darn sure that 2.5" clear ford breaks, not 3.5".

bigdude 03-02-2002, 04:51 PM 3.5" will fit with grinding, and i like grinding

Of all of the available beadlock sources, Eaton is what I would consider the weakest and cheapest of the bunct. IMHO, of course :)
offroadr35 03-02-2002, 05:44 PM personally i think the avalanche beadlocks look the best. they're gonna be my pick if i don't go with hummer wheels.

Supergper 03-02-2002, 06:46 PM I just ordered my set of avalanche on friday...they have some cool features like they self center the tire...I am not positive but I think they are the same as Trail Ready or at least the same rings...I think they are reasonably priced...check out the high impact wheels though pretty cheap and can be out to you in only two weeks:D Like DRM said I would skip the eatons, I have heard they are cheap and thin...
tigger4x 03-02-2002, 09:34 PM I also got the 60 front and 14 rear but I went with 16.5" rims cuz I got the set of 4 for only $20!!:D I went with the ROCKSTOMPERs (www.rockstomper.com) and couldn't be happier. Both the inner and the outer rings are 1/2" thick. I started with 7" rims and once I get my 37"x12.5" MTs on them they should be about 9-9 1/2" wide. Call and talk to Scott and he will help you out. Mine were $430 shipped to my door with the "button head" bolts. I can't wait to get my axles shaved and under my rig so I can get these babies on 'em!! :smokin:

So daniel is that $50 for tire AND rim or just rim???
tigger4x 03-02-2002, 11:00 PM This isn't Daniel but I can tell you that they are just for the tires ... rims 'r more ;)
Supergper 03-02-2002, 11:03 PM well this is the quote from his page he linked:
"These are hummer tires and wheels I have an endless supply of rims for $50 each we also sell the Aluminum Runflats for $50 each...We will have the 12 bolt rims soon... "
so i would assume that atleast the rims are $50 but where he refered to the rims and tires in the same sentence I wasn't sure???
bigdude 03-03-2002, 04:25 AM Hummer rims are a nice idea, but 16.5". My tires are for a 15" rim.
Thanks for the heads up on Eaton, I'll definitely be skipping them. Rockstomper sounds good and I've heard nothing but good reviews. I think I'll pm scott with a few questions.
Any small time makers that are worth while?

Well be prepared to do alot of it! I just got done mine and I spent 3+ hours grinding per side... and I didnt like the fact that I had to grind some of the pin that holds the caliper to the bracket... I would consider either 3" or 2.5" instead of the 3.5" backspacing.

bigdude 03-03-2002, 09:07 AM I've heard it was quite a bit and that didn't bother me much. The reason I was looking for 3.5" backspacing is that I thought it was a standard for beadlock wheels from some manufacturers. That way I wouldn't have to pay the 15-20 per wheel for custom backspacing.
Now that I'm finding to get 3.5" it's a custom wheel, I'll probably go 3" and same some headache. Thanks for the advice.

They are trail ready beadlocks

Supergper ... the reason why I said the rims were more than likely $50 is beacuse I am getting 2 sets of tires from Daniel here pretty quick and they were $50 each. Maybe he's got some really good deal going on to make them go quick, I dunno.
BIGDUDE ... You could probably save yourself a bundle like I did with the 16.5" stuff. I have 35"x12.5"x15" BFGs on my 15"x10" rims but cuz I am going with the 60/14 combo I didn't want to deal with grinding and possible failure somewhere down the road. :rolleyes:OK, so maybe I'm a wuss that way.:p :flipoff2: But you can find a set of 16.5" steels in the junk yard pretty cheap, get the Rockstompers, and then get the 37" MTs like I am from Daniel for $50!!! Just a suggestion, but Scott at Rockstomper said I came out waaaay ahead. :smokin:
Good Luck!!

Good idea. I ordered some 15X10 3" BS beadlocks from Rockstomper for my '76 Ford 3/4 ton D44 (same brakes as Ford D60) and it was about 3 hours of grinding per side. I too almost went with 3.5" BS but am now glad I did not. Another 1/2" is a LOT more grinding. Good choice.
bigdude 03-03-2002, 04:10 PM Well I've got 36x12.50 SX's that are practically new with less than 400 miles on them. I love swampers and plan to stick with them. For me to sell these I would lose a bundle because they were 900+ new. I know I'll drag ass all over the place with only 36's but I'll deal until I can figure out finances for larger tires.
Basically I'm sticking with these tires unless I find someone to buy them and then I'll get 38's. I like the 15" wheel with 38's, good sidewall, but not too much.
Also, I worry about the run flat with hummer rims unless running a 40+ inch tire.
So beside Rockstomper and MRT, ruling out Eaton and Stockton for quality and Trailready/Avalanche for price, any other manufacturers to investigate.
Supergper 03-03-2002, 05:06 PM high impact...they are very similar to the MRT but the 32 bolts one only cost like $170??? Something like that adn he said he can have them out in about two weeks tops...I believe their site is www.high-impact.net
Gozuki 03-03-2002, 07:15 PM Hi impact sells Allied Wheels, which are very cool. 4XDoctor is a distributer for them, they were $150 each on site at TDS..

Agreed DRM - but that's what he ASKED for :flipoff2:
