What front d44 axle with passenger drop diff will give me 60-61"wms to wms? What kind of cutting would be involved? The spring perches need to be stock width. If i have to go to 63" wms-wms will it look goofy with a 58" rear axle and will it drive allright? What do you think of wheel spacers? I'd prefer to cut one side only.:rasta:

I've been going through the same thing & haven't come up w/ anything to get that width, other than cutting both sides & useing 2 custom length shafts. That's starting w/ a Chevy housing, Don't know what you can do w/ a Dodge.
Waggy is the right width, but you you have to outboard the springs.
I guess you've already figured out that you can get 63" from a Chevy by cutting the long side 4" & useing an '80 or newer shaft.
You can get 58" by cutting the long side 6.5" & short side 2.5". Then use an '80's Waggy short & custom long shafts.
I would have went 63" w/ spacers on my 58" rear which is a 60, so I don't think I would have significant bearing issues.
Anyway I got one alredy cut down, so I'm going to use that & deal w/ the costom shafts. Looks like it will end up 58-58.5"

would cutting it allow for stock width spring placement? T case side is correct right. what years and other things to look for, etc.?

late 70's dodge D44, cut 4" out of the long side and the spring pads line up for a CJ, overall width, 61"
