Its just a bare foot radio no added power or anything and its hooked strait to the battery.Anybody got any ideas what this could be??? Oh yea my jeep a 85 cj with a 258 if that helps. Thanks in advance for any info

Dude I'm sorry but that is the funniest fawking thing I have read today. Heres what you got to do.
1) Delete this thread before one of the vetrans on here flame :mad3: you for using this for your first post instead of the Newbie check in.
2) Read the Sticky: Jeep talk mission statement. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1223 Pay close attention to #81. Breaking this rule is another recipe for flaming. Believe me I know.
3) Get your altenator and wiring checked. I don't think a CB has enough draw to kill an engine, but if something in your electrical is really really weak it might put it over the edge. How bout running other stuff like lights, radio ect... Any issues with them?

Howdy,
It sounds like something about the CB transmission is messing with the electronic ignition stuff.
I would start with the basics.
Make sure all of your electric connections are good, including the grounds.
Make sure there is a GOOD ground for any electronic ignition stuff.
Keep radio and ignition wires and cables as far apart as possible.

Have your antenna and cable checked, if they are out of tune they can cause problems.
Try running a good ground to the base of the antenna.

81. This should be considered college level for wheeling Jeeps, so don't post kindergarden level topics.

Okay Mr. Shaggy, this seems to be a little more than the kindergarden level topic which would be decribed as, How do I take my doors off, or will removing the carpet void my warranety.

I may not be the most knowledgable person out there on stock Jeep problems, mainly because nothing on my jeep is stock but the body, but I have never heard of this on a stock Jeep.

There was a post a while back where the CB was killing the engine but it was a known issue with the Holley Projection.

Your ECM (computer) is getting scambled with the RF output of your CB, why who knows, try this, pull your glove box out and the ECM is the silver box right behind it, you may want to try and ground it better by running a wire from one of the screws to a good ground point on the body. Make sure your antenna wire is correctly built, make sure the connectors are assembled correctly and the wire is HIGH quality stuff. Do not route it near the back of the glovebox. Make sure you antenna mount is firmly secured to the body and you may want to run an extra ground wire from the antenna mount to the frame.

Also if it keeps doing it borrow another CB and see if the result is the same. And if all else fails go to www.4wd.com and order you a weber carb for that sucker and ditch the ECM all together....

lol. not to be an ass but I have a funny related story. My friends uncle moved back to Greece to reitre. Insted of buying all the materials there he got some huge freight containers (like the ones that hold 2 or 3 cars) full of building supplies from here in CA and shipped them over. When he finally finished the 3 story house in his family old small town. He took out half the town's power when he turned the power on his house on. LOL!. He got such flack for it.

Here is the link to that other thread. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30374&highlight=pro+injection It may help you.
I have never heard of such a thing. I have had CB's in all my rigs. Would suck if it happened to a Semi driver doing 65 huh?
Still the funniest thing I have read in a long time though.
Did you buy your cb used or new? Are you sure it is only 4 watts?
