: After HP44 swap, pedal occasionally goes to floor.

I have a '96 ZJ that I just put a HP44 in out of my buddie's ZJ. He only had the Jeep for a couple months, but every once in a while the pedal would just go to the floor, then be fine. I thought it was that he didn't have any e-brake cables and that maybe his shoes weren't adjusting. I swapped my 9 inch in about a week ago and have been driving it the same way since with no problem. Ever since I put his old 44 in this has been happening. I'm thinking it must be the calipers, but where is the fluid going? There are no leaks and the rotors aren't warped and pushing the pistons back. Maybe the MC doesn't have the volume it needs to fill up the bigger calipers? Any suggestions? Thanks. -Jeff

Figured out what it was. When I turn all the way either direction the banjo bolt in the calipers hit the inner knuckle and collapse the piston. These are obviously the wrong brakes for this application. Oh well, off to the junkyard. BTW, thanks 1bgdog. I've been thinking of doing something like that in the future as well.

I got the same setup HP250 front and 9" rear. I converted the front to 5 on 5.5 lug pattern using dodge knuckles and outers. The brakes will work fine once you fix that interferance

Went to the auto store today and picked up some '77 4WD calipers. Figured out yesterday at the junkyard that mine were the 2WD calipers. Only real difference is banjo bolt location. Go figure. It's all good now. Thanks for the input.
