First off yes I am a newbie here. I sold my 89 wrangler last year and purchased a 1984 FJ60 from the original owner. I have been doing a complete rustoration and upgrade to the entire truck myself. I am currently installing a suspension lift on the beast as we speak. This is a list of the new suspension parts: 4"BTB front and rear springs, OME medium duty shocks for a 5-6"lift, Manafre 2" front and 1" rear greasable anti inversion shackles, greasable spring pins, shims for the correction of the front drivline, extended sway bar links, Manafre heavy duty front and rear sway bars, extended stainless brake lines, MANAFRE extended u bolts, poly bushings, tie rod ends OME steering stabilzer. I have also done a knuckle rebuild, intalled new calipers, rotors and hub housing along with new bearings and a new set of superwinch locking hubs.my question is this: with this amount of lift aproximately 5-6 " what are the largest tires that I can run? And what about the widest rims/ I want to go with 35x12.5- 38x15.5 mounted on 15x10- 15x12 inch wheels. It will mainly be offroading in the sand on the Outerbanks of North Carolina,so I wont be doing any serious rock crawling. I am going to see if I can make some quick release pins for the sway bars as well. Will I need to install a body lift for these size tires? Thanks :vader2:

I am running 35x12.5 muds with 3" spring, and a 2" body lift that I put together from my mini truck friends that do not have a stock bed anymore. All I had to do was find the correct length bolts. I have just put 2.5" shackles in the rear and 1.5" shackles in the front and the 35's stuff great. I had little rubbing before I installed the longer shackles and know its flexing and crawling great, no rubbing.

I can't see how you're going to fit anything bigger than 35's without major rubbbing! Another thing to consider is that OME shocks only come in one length, and that is meant to match the 2.5" lift of the OME kit. If you're going to run them with a significantly taller lift, they're going to be the limiting factor on your articulation. If that's no big deal for you, I guess go for them, I prefer the Rancho 9000's myself.
