I am putting SBC running gear into a 69 scout would like Overdrive and 205 or 208 tcase

I've heard of a 700r4 that doesnt need or use a harness and has a lock up torque converter I think this is what I need, what year / vehicle did this setup come from if it exists at all?

What are my options?

Thank You

options options options........boy there is room for a lot of opinion here...

If you want to have the best of both worlds, find yourself a 87 or 88 trans. Those have the upgraded components such as input, sprags, etc. but still have the option to go full hydraulic control with no wires. Use the transgo sk700 kit and buy the lockup valve kit to replace the dummy valve in the body. Now there are a ton of options, and most parts retrofit both ways.

Basicall what you want to end up with is an early valve body with late hard parts. But unless you really know the trans and setup, I wouldn't recommend swapping out parts and pieces....just stick with the 87 or 88....

If you want electric controls, then use an 87 up trans and buy a wiring kit for them, but I prefer the hydraulic control, then you have no wires to get damaged...
