That is a really open ended question. Because I don't know how much power you need, 1000 hp or would 120 hp do. Also how light is necessary. Like 300 pounds complete or would 500 pounds be ok. As for the absolute best engine weight to hp I would guess it is turbocharged and made in Japan. I don't know for sure though. I personally like the 472-500 cid Caddy engines because mine weighs about the same as a small block chevy (mine is probably lighter than some sbc's) and it has huge torque and decent horsepower stock plus I am cheap. Its most likely to big for a tube chassised buggy or sammi though if thats what your biulding. Anyway I bet you would get more answers if you said I need 200 horsepower and less than 400 pounds of weight, what engine has it? Or something like that! Later

hum didn't know a 500 was that leight. I was figuring about 200-250hp, and 200-300lbs. i.e a 1 to 1 ratio of hp/lbs or 1 to (1>x)Yeah guess the question was a bit open ended.
thanks

Freak show all aluminum LS1 from a Firebird if money is no object. 500 CID Caddy if you are on a budget. I'm running the cad, but its way over budget. I got sucked into "upgrade while your at it" syndrome.:D

i do know that they made aluminum bbc's, and they are upwards of 200 lbs. less than an iron bbc. they are pretty expensive and hard to come by though

Why a axles out of Qtrac? toys have centered rear outputs.

hopped up 22r? if you want lightweight why not use the entire toy setup with deep t-case gears, the sm420 has to be a heavy peice.

I put a 22RE, Toy 4-speed, T-case, and axles in my Willy's. Power to weight ratio is great. My guess is that my Jeep weighs 2500lbs, and has about 135-145hp.
