check billavista's bible

the semi float axles have a 9.5 ring gear and can be 6 or 8 lug

the older full floater has drum brakes and a 10.5" ring gear. comes 8 lug only

the newest one comes with rear disk brake, is full floater and has the 11.5" ring gear-assuming only 8 lug. never used one in a wheeler so i dont know much about these axles

the newest is in chevy's i wanna say 99 and newer. so not very likely you have one.

9.5" semi-float is also available in 5 lug on 5.5" bolt circle. That's what came in the 1/2 Ton 2WD rigs. 9.5" has an irregular oval diff cover, 10.5" is more diamond shaped with a pointy anchor on the bottom. I don't know nuffin about the 11.5".

The 11.5 is only available in 2500 and 3500 HD GM trucks that have a 8.1 liter or a Duramax diesel. These axle all have disc brakes and were not available before 99 or 2000. :grinpimp:

A quick question. Is there any way to convert the 10.5" Full Floater to 6 lug?
