Well when I left we had 2 arms all done, with the others waiting to get drilled and cut. All in all we had 8 arms and a LOT of steel there. It was a great time, and I was happy to meet so many nice people. One bad thing is I think I fried my Millermatic Challenger 172. Oh well, time to get the thing warrantied.

8 arms    I bet the ol' power meter was spinning pretty fast!
I hope I get mine done soon so I can try it out this weekend. Hopefully my dad has a 7/8 bit, I can't afford to buy one right now.

Those pictures look very familiar. Are you sure you weren't in CAli?
I think we completed 5 or six arms. It was a great time. Make sure you have a good drill press and sharp bits. Our Drill DR wouldnt shapen the 3/4 inch bit or else we would have completed more. Cant wait to install.

You're using 3/4" bolts? I considered it, but some really old fart says I should go 7/8 or 1". As long a I get one hole drilled I'll be happy:D

Can always drill bigger if needed. They should be fine tho.
eh? I thought we were using a 5/8 bit?
FLatty- sorry to hear the miller bit the dust. Now that sucks. And i can only hope the concrete will recover from us a'hacking and welding on it. But, i hear miller has a great warranty. So, with any luck, you will have a new one soon enough.
Nobody- ya missed out man. :flipoff2:
From what i can see, your on track. Drill them there holes, tack'n hack it in two and weld the outher plates fully and your done :D Flexy flexy

Yeah i got a good idea from Mark L., To keep the Locking pin a 5/8 because all other hitch pins in the 3/4 and 7/8 looked like junk, the 5/8 you can use your hitch pin from your trailer hitch, and those are beefy!
Then you can make the piviot bolt like a 3/4 or 7/8, both are really the same IMO once you get that big, 1 inch is just going to waste your time drilling it

You've got a point, if a 5/8 hitch pin can be used to tow a few thousand pounds, then it should handle the partial load of a wristed arm.....
However, a larger bolt for the pivot will have a larger surface area and shouldn't wear out as fast...not that I've heard of anyone wearing them out. I think I'll be going 7/8 on the pivot, and probably 5/8 on the pin.
Did you guys drill em out for a grease fitting?

na when you drill the hole for gresse all you do is weaken it. i have never had anyone compalin about it making noise either though, but i guess you could put a teflon sleeve in there if you really wanted to, but i think you wuold be over engineering the idea of a wristed arm
