I've got a 83 toyota from axel that has no calipers. It's 110$ for new calipers and would rather upgrage for that price. What is the best setup to run. I know there's a ifs swap so what do I need to do this swap. I trying to get my rig running in the next two days so I need help asap.

Just get a set of mid 90's V6 caipers. You can still use your old rotors(with new pads)
untill you finish the upgrade.

If you are going to spend any money, do not waste it on something you will redo in six months. Buy Landcruiser rotors (vented) and IFS truck 86, 87, .... calipers. It is a bolt on, and you will end up with better brakes.

Yes you can, had a buddy that ran the stock rotors with 90 V-6 calipers for a couple of years before he bought the FJ rotors!!!!! :flipoff2:

im not exactly sure the application, somewhere in the early 90's the calipers all became the same regardless of the motor?? ive had 87 and 88 trucks that had different, seemingly smaller calipers

i did it for one trip, the solid rotors overheated and warped on highway 4. wheel bearing grease and/or gear oil leaking out the knuckle actually flashed a couple of times when i pulled over...

Got a couple v6 calipers of a 4runner today so we'll see how they work with my solid rotors. Anyone swap the stock ifs vented rotors in. I'm trying to get some landcrusier rotors but they all cost a lot. Like 65 a piece. Is there a place I can get them cheaper or any other rotor that will work.

But he never had any problems, sounds like your calipers were sticking. His were new so there was no crusty build-up on the inside of the pucks (I got kicked out of high school for three days for saying PUCK to a teacher)!!!! :grinpimp:
