HOLY CRAP!! $1900, wow..........

The most expensive 4l60e I have done was just a little over $1100, and that was with an HD converter, upgraded 3-4 and forward clutches, new band, hd-2 shift kit, new clutches, bushings, corvette servo, beast sunshell, pinless accumulators, and a billet OD servo.

Some of the parts they have listed are WAY overkill.......at least in my opinion

That seems high to me, but then again, a stocker will run you that much from GM. So if you can't find somebody local that knows how to mod a 4l60e, then I guess something like that would be your next best bet.

No that's not a bad price for all that is in there. You could rebuild your current one to that setup for that same price including labor. Plus, if you buy that one, it probably comes with some warranty time on it.

:shaking: The parts listed there are not really overkill. I've rebuilt my 4l60 with more than that and am still wondering when it will blow. I can't pick out a one of the add-ons listed that I would run a 4l60e without.

I don't know what your running but that transmission will hold up to 400+ hp/tq no problem.

I have used those clutches and bands in a 700, and they were WAY to harsh, had to swap out to the standard clutches and a 4l60e high energy band. If you are running a street rod or pure mud bogger, then maybe, but for 90% of the customers out there it is way harsh when installed with a -2 transgo kit.

90% of the customers out there don't go through their 4L60E a few times either. I can't vouch for Raybestos but I run Alto Reds and 8 in the 3-4 is just right. You can't just throw HD clutches in without improving other parts such as your servos and accumulators and expect it to be happy.

heres another idea...either swapping in a th400 or a 4l80e

I would love to keep the overdrive of the 80 since im too broke to buy a damn trailer but if i did run a 60 built like that, do you guys think it will hold up?

I usually run the alto or BW clutches, great durability clean crisp shifts.

I was only talking about the particular clutches they are using. With light valve body pump mods, they work ok.

But when you shift kit it and through in the high performance paper/kevlar clutches, you end up with harsh shifts, some people like it, most don't. I try to use the High Energy clutches and bands whenever possible, they take lots of heat and abuse with little to no wear. Plus the shifts stay consistent over the life of the trans with them.

So what do you guys think about that transmission...is there anything else that it needs or should it be able to hold up fairly well

ditto on the sonnax parts. great parts, tech line and good company to work with. i sell lots of their products everyday. i've only been at work for less than an hour today and already sold 4 of their items if that gives you any idea.
