I have a friend that is ready to venture into the offroad world with his '92 FJ-80. I have been looking around and just want to see if i am steering him in the right direction....(his truck will only see moderate wheeling...nothing truely hardcore)

I was thinking the the OME 50mm suspension system and then possible adding some 1-1.5 spacers for some added lift. Other than those products...is he going to need new control arms/pan hard rods/ sway bar brackets...etc...or will all the factory components work with that set up for moderate wheeling...

YOu are gong the right way, however, you really only need to get the Old Man Emu bushings to get the caster correct if you do the OME heavy springs in the front and the OME mediums in the rear.

This will give a nice level stance.

If you chose 35-36 x 12.50's, then this will be all the lift the FJ-80 will need as the tires will tuck into the wheelwells fine.

If you go with a wider tire, then the 1.5" spacers will be needed for 35-36" tires. Go to www.sleeoffroad.com and purchase some Billet 1.5" spacers.

As for replacing the 3 link stuff, unless you get more than 1.5" over the OME coils, you will not need new control arms/panhard arms, etc. I have danced this dance. Save your buddies $$ for lockers!

Here is my FZJ-80 with the setup metioned above with 1.5" spacers and 315-70-16 Geolander MT's
