I'm setting up a wristed arm kind of setup on my CJ. To keep things as simple as possible I'm thinking Ford brackets would be the way to go. Both the radius arm mounts, and also the shock/ coil bracket. So, the question is which to use? Are they all the same, Broncos, 1/2 tons, vans etc? I'd like to go with short brackets to hug the frame and taller coil buckets.
I was also wondering about welding a bolt into the end of my control arms to use Ford bushings for simplicity, if anyone has pics of something like that.
Thanks-

I would NOT butt-weld a bolt onto the end of your control arm, as there would be too much shear stress to make that safe.
Simply my .02 for safety.

Sure, I'm thinking about turning the head off of some bolts with the redneck lathe (grinder) and putting them in the tube a ways, plug and butt welding them, then using Ford bushings in Ford brackets.
But- still nobody has answered my original question-
IF- an EB, van, 2 and 4 wheel drive truck owner, -one of each- would measure a couple things it would save me some time at the yards.
1) how far does the hole for the radius arm hang below the frame rail.
2) what is the height above the frame rail at the top of the front spring pad. I assume the top of the shock is within an inch of that height.
Like said before, I want the bracket closest to the frame rail in the rear, and the highest above coil / shock tower for the front. So, offa what?
Come AWWWWWNNN.. take a damn tape measure and two minutes, if I ever see ya on the trail you can have some cold ones from the cooler!!
Thanks....

EB's use a boxed frame so the mount is kind of U
the Solid axle trucks use about the same bracket as an EB but insted of a U mount it has a cross member that it mounts to
the TTB mount to the side and underneath the frame, just about all those are around the same
I like the EB mounts the best, they are the easist to work with, they all hang down the same amount
the best coil buckets are from the 78/79 bronco's really tall and suimple upper mount

I like the TTB radius arm mounts the best. They don't hang down near as much as the other designs, and bolt right to the frame in 4 spots.
The 78/79 brackets hang down the farthest and the hardest to mounts because they use the tranny x-member as a brace.
