As I was assembling my front 44 this weekend, I got to thinking about the milling/drilling/tapping of the passenger side knuckles. Someone had posted that they had found a factory application that was already machined for the conversion, and I was wondering if maybe it wasn't from a factory export, right hand drive unit of some sort???? Made sense at the time anyway. Any possibilty this might be a source for the passenger side knuckles, if it isn't the source the other poster had found?

Just kicking things around in my head while I worked .

You'll find the post, but it ended with the company no longer selling them.
Good Luck find on in the Junk Yard. This is what you want?

You could always call a yard in Australia, or any other right hand drive country with older Chevys laying around. Think you would spend more in shipping than just having one machined.

I've heard postal jeeps had both side flat.

I've got the flat top thing handled on my project, I was just thinking as I was assembling the axle that maybe there was an application from an export vehicle or something that might be available. You know us damn engineers. Can't ever leave anything alone.......

Someone fed you a line of crap. Remember, postals are two wheel drive. They don't have knuckles which even resemble Dana 30 knuckles.

O.K. I believe you.

I was in Leonard's shop in Hillsboro ( Leonard's Off Road ) and he was putting a 44 into a Sami and I noticed both knuckles were flat topped ( factory ). I aked what it was out of and he told me a postal jeep. Were there any 4x postals?

Go look at the DJ again. You will see that they have a front axle tube. The only thing missing is the center section and axles. Other then that they are the real close if not the exact same. they even use the same hub and drum. Have I not look in depth into a DJ steering knuckle, but if I remember it looked damn close.

But then again it doesn't matter for flat tops, DJ and CJ use a crossover setup so there wouldn't be a steering arm on top of the knuckle.
