i found a 14 bolt for 200 bucks locally i have yet to go look at it. before i run out and look what should i look for (it is a FF). a couple dumb questions though.... how big are the yokes on the 14 bolts what am i gonna have to do to make it work behind my stock tcase or behind the atlas i have going in? and how long ( im guessing right word) is the pinion is it going to shorten up my driveline anything excessive. the reason im asking is im gonna fix the gears in my 44 right now and slap the atlas in with new shafts probably get the 14bolt and start getting it ready and swap it in come begining of the summer. this one is already set up with 4.56's and a detriot from what the ad said.
also the guy has a pair of 2.5 ton axles for 200 bucks hehehe i dont think i really NEEED them. i was almost thinking about calling him up going over there handing him 300 for all 3 axles... saposadly the guy is moving and MUST sell.
i dunno
opinions?

Where is this guy located?
Are you definitely going to get the 2.5's? If not I might just have to pick them up.

At first when you said $200 for the 14 bolt I was going to tell you that its not worth it...but then you added it has 4.56s and detroit...now thats worth it...To make the yoke work I would give Jess a call he will get you straight...the pinion is much shorter than a D60 what do you have right now??? If you have a D44 then I would venture to guess that they are prety close in lenth to each other...FWIW

oh another question....
this 14 bolt is probably what 67" wide, unless it was a dualy. what can i do for rims to suck it in. i dont want it to much wider then now. can i pick up rock crawlers with like 8" of backspacing or somethin dumb like that. someone said something about double bead lock hummer wheels..... can u run those on the street ok how much and where do i get them.
thanks.

just yesterday I measured the difference in length from a dana 35 and the 14 bolt from the center of the yoke to the middle of the axle tube. I approximated that the 14 bolt was about 2.5-3 inches longer so it would eat up that much more driveline. if your putting in an atlas, i wouldnt worry about it. you'll gain that distance back and then some. as far as the pinion yoke.....im GUESSING its 1330? maybe? i dunno. when you order your new driveshaft you just let them know the size on each end and they make it that way.

It's a 1350 yoke. Just go to any competent parts store (not Vatozone) and ask for a 1310-1350 conversion yoke.
Most driveshafts have about 3" of slip unless it's special- you might be able to squeak by, who knows.
I'm lengthening my driveshaft tonight hopefully, it needs to be a full 11" longer with the 14bolt moved back 8 inches from stock, and lifted more.

um, you will not slip by with a 3 inch difference in driveshaft. the cv does have about 3 inches of slip either way. however, if your pushing the cv into its 3 inches already, it has no more slip that direction. maybe he means that with the atlas it will work out. even then, i would measure my driveshaft before you do anything and measure it after you get it all set. if the two numbers are within an inch or so, your probably ok. the CV drive shaft could be lengthened anyway, why not do that? the yoke will need to be changed as mentioned previously. i think it depends on the drive shaft but you may not be able to swap the yoke.

Oops dammit, I meant conversion ujoint. About 16 bucks- I'm running these until I can afford new front and rear driveshafts. I know for sure where the fuse is gonna be, running 1-ton with 1310 driveshafts!

the standard dually and the single rear wheel 14bolt is 67" wide. only the cab and chassis version dually 14bolt is about 63" wide. if you don't want the width then slap a set of c&c dually hubs on that rear or put the 4.56's and detroit in to a c&c dually rear. if you just put the c&c dually hubs on a standard 14bolt you better just swap on discs at the same time because the brake offsets are different. either way a 14bolt with 4.56's and a detroit is definatly worth $200 even if you just buy it to swap them into a c&c dually 14bolt. plus the standard 14bolt shafts are the same between the two so you would have a spare set of shafts....not that you'll need them :D
