I am trying to put different tail lights on one of my CJ-7's, the new ones have the wires marked, stop/turn, tail, and ground. My question is, the harness plug for the tail light has a white wire with a gray tracer, a green wire with a white tracer , and a white wire. Which wires do I hook up to the new tail lights to make them work right??

it's only three wires dude, go back in the garage and start touching wires together till you find the right ones...

white with tracer goes to the back up light, green with whitetracer goes tostop light, white goes to the tail. This the drivers side, the pass. side has two white's running to the other tail light, and doesn't have white with tracer..this is for '80-'83 what year ya got?

Ever heard of a test light? $5 at any parts store. Ground it, turn on a turn signal, and see which one blinks.

I'd make a dummy comment, but I've re-done the taillights in my CJ so many times I'm literally sick of em.

BTW, didn't see where you were from, but I think you'd be ahead of the game to cut that plug right off and hardwire it. How often do you really need to take off your taillights? You'll get a much better connection too if you hard splice it and do it right.

Oh yeah. But a Chilton's or Hayne's manual while you're there. That wiring diagram is handy-dandy.

Thanks Cutter, I will try that and see if it works. I am putting in some LED's so I can quit smashing the crap out of them.:rasta:

Did you go with Skeetshooter to Clayton??

Oh, I almost forgot:flipoff2:

Later dude
